I still have to be convinced that bounties for projects in a ballpark like this are a good idea: imho they set flawed incentives and are a waste of resources, because most likely people won‘t team up and work together on a single project, but rather split and rush to a solution on their own.

I used to make fun of this argument of small amounts and still think is stupid. Why should I let go of the main value prop of btc „for small amounts?“

What‘s the main value prop in this case? You said you are getting started and experimenting – doesn‘t sound like life-saving amounts or the need for censorship resistance or unconfiscability.

Why not be practical about it? It‘s the easiest solution for small amounts of money and one can upgrade whenever oneself and other solutions are ready. Cash out once the amounts become larger than what you feel comfortable with.
