Yeah I comment on MRs that were merged four years ago... sorry, not sorry.
It's basically cheese plus bacteria.
Not sure if you've ever seen the "blue cheese had mold in it" song https://youtu.be/HmadzQ1uL0s?si=88dA5uJquSngXxEo
Eggs are protected by a shell and a membrane, so germs don't easily get in. But chicken was processed at a plant, where germs are likely introduced. Unless he was buying whole chicken...
We've devolved in that regard...
Interesting reference. Not sure how you feel about the mark of the beast, but I actually believe it will be a future event. But not soon, because society would be cashless at that time. ("no one can buy or sell unless...")
To me the mark sounds like it'd be a Verifiable Credential. Keep in mind the details of the prophecy. It would attest that you, as a person, have given allegiance to the Beast (an actual person or being). And payments would fail if that VC is not present.
And the "right hand or forehead" details sound like NFC implant locations. Those are the easiest places to scan.
Some sort of centralization will have taken hold, even if it's only the fact that everyone decided to require this VC for payments.
Ironically, I still want to build in this space using VCs and web3. I can't stop the inevitable, but maybe I'll delay it by promoting decentralized ecosystems.
Why StartOS?
Could it just use hedera? A lightning payments system is just digital signatures and trust and stuff, right? ... I know nothing about it
I want to make a Hedera-based time-stamping service. Anyone want to work with me?

On #amethyst can you format text? (Android)
Also, writing is really awkward if the text is long enough to overflow vertically. You basically have to type blind.
Does #amethyst not have a "hide" feature? I don't want to full-on _block_ people, I just want to not see any of their posts.
I'm back on nostr.
X and others have become increasingly _lewd_. I'm not sure if this the tendency of all social media platforms over time, as they become infiltrated by influencers and publishers who game the system by creating attention-grabbing content which tends to be negative.
I thought the other day about #ThreadsApp, and how "no one is using it". But what if the people using it _don't want everyone to use it_? What if they want meaningful interactions and authentic content? These go away when the algorithm promotes only the hot stuff, and when posters start aiming for popularity instead of meaning.
Why post to be popular? I want to read posts that inspire meaning and thought.
Or maybe I am just getting old.
Bro, full-sized vertical images just aren't going to fly. You can't have one post stealing the whole screen like that.
Not to mention abuse, like a 600x10000 image would take up _pages_ of screen. So you have to clamp the image height at some point.
People that are asking for a pref... lol it's the easiest and the worst solution. Don't let the app become a swamp of user options. We can do this without a pref.
One suggestion: have a fade-out bottom, letting the user click to expand. So, if the image is larger than a height threshold, cut off the bottom, add the fade , and let users click to reveal.
With some FIDO implementations, the private key is stored in your phone's secure enclave chip, and you simply log in to web sites with your fingerprint or face id.
You can lose the private key though, can't you?
One of the first things I did after joining Nostr was accidentally #report someone. (Don't worry, I undid it so everything is good now 😂). Here's how it happened.
I had heard of scuttlebutt but never heard about Nostr until on Twitter I saw someone say "follow me on Nostr" with their public key. So I went to the Google Play Store and downloaded a bunch of clients.
The top result was #amethyst so I generated a new private key using Amethyst. All good so far..
But as I was poking around the UI I noticed the "report" options: like "report hate speech", etc. And I thought, "report to _who_? I thought this was decentralized?" So I thought, "maybe if I click it, it'll tell me more information 🤔"
...nope, it just reported and blocked them. Not even much of a confirmation either. I eventually found the "reports" tab on their profile and deleted my reports. But not before I burned that private key and generated a new one 😶
So, sorry if that was you. To be fair, I made sure the profile was _obviously not hate speech_ ...before reporting it as hate speech, just in case it actually went through. So anyway...
But my question now is, what are the ramifications of reporting? I assume the reports are sent to one or more relays, but what's the outcome? (Are there docs on this?) Since anyone can generate a private key (or can one person generate thousandsof them) can the reporting feature be abused for DOSing a certain profile? Is there a trust/reputation system involved, or a heuristic before reports are considered weighty enough?
My name is Matthias. I'm a software developer currently working a 9-5 but my wish is to work on a decentralized system for cataloging the world's truth. But I'm hoping to gain financial independence through some SAAS business on the side, because work is _taxing_.
I've started writing at https://github.com/truthchain/planning. More details in future posts. Feel free to follow; no junk here. Message to collab.
