Nostr is the "protocol" but not an App. It's just the set of rules all of this needs to follow to work together.

All the clients work differently. Amethyst, Damus, Snort.social, Nostrgram.

If you use a mobile phone app client remember to update it frequently as they're all essentially in testing or beta mode and being developed every day or so.

I just tried out a new Android cloet called Plebster. Not bad.

Depends on the client.

I use Amethyst for Android mostly. I also frequently re-download the program for updates from the GitHub page. For this client I long press (hold down) the ⚡ button until a menu appears where I can set new amounts.

If you're using Damus or another client I'm not sure. Functionality and options will vary client to client.

I want an android phone to play around with. Doesn’t need a fancy camera, lots of storage, or to be very fast. Just functional, I’ll probably try to find a used one.

What brand/model should I get?

I use it on android with Kiwi+nos2x usually has issues logging in.

Tried now worked flawlessly lol.

Step 1. Throw your Apple product in the crapper.

Step 2. Flush said crapper.

Step 3. Switch all your crap onto Android.

Step 4. Relearn everything you thought you knew about using a smart phone.

Step 5. Download Amethyst...

if you have android, get the amethyst app. it's a better ux than iris imo.

copy your private key from iris and paste it into the login screen on amethyst.

The mobile apps (Damus on iOS and Amethyst on android) are SO much better. It’s still very new tho and things are improving for the web stuff too.

I know it's a long shot but does anybody knows if I can copy amethyst nostr private key using phone with dead screen and a Linux laptop? Developer mode should be enabled hopefully but apart from that I'm in the dark...

Missus managed to kill her screen on Android device before making a backup of keys and now we're stuck for couple of weeks before we'll manage to get screen replaced...

Bout to upgrade to an Android methinks.
