I haven't used Chromebooks in a few years so not sure if the stock OS is up to it yet (by natively running Linux binaries), but you can definitely do it with Crouton or Gallium.
Alright, alright, hold your horses.
I actually consider to have done my homework prior to switching over.
#GrapheneOS servers monitoring? Sure, but every other OS will need a server-backend for monitoring of basic services, it's up to the user to either outright switch servers or detach specific services (such as using ntfy for push, MLS for location services, etc) wherever possible. Without such a backend, smartphones won't really function.
Fingerprinting users? You can say that, but that would go directly against their own incentives.
I can use TOR just fine for literally everything, updates included.
From my packet-sniffing testing I found no issues with phone-home data. No immediate red-flags.
You do realise Tavi recommends Graphene, right?
And the reasoning is simple - DivestOS and GrapheneOS solve very different problems. DivestOS is catered towards older devices and general compatibility to keep them as secure as AOSP allows for as long as possible. GrapheneOS caters for newer devices and takes advantage of newer hardware to enhance and actually enforce device-hardening.
They're not even competing in the same space.
Yet another "sensitive event"...? π€π€π€
The road to #Fiat #Collapse
Okay, this is awesome.
Value your privacy and security? Ready to take the next step?
You're on Nostr, so there's a good chance you've done it with money, by going with Bitcoin.
Next step, harden your phone, go with #GrapheneOS.
The REAL worth/value descriptor for #Bitcoin.
Actual #NGU Tech.
Been a while since we've seen these rates.
Get coin-control going: Consolidate your UTXOs where it makes sense, label them, don't dox yourself, and get rid of doxxic change and dust.
Also looking forward to lightning integration. With the elimination of the payout threshold I hope to see a big influx of independent miners to Ocean.
The ATH 1Eh/s we saw recently for Ocean's hashrate may be indication of testing/onboarding for a big influx as well.
Currently on nostr:npub1qtvl2em0llpnnllffhat8zltugwwz97x79gfmxfz4qk52n6zpk3qq87dze, as I like the options they provide and no #KYC. Looking forward to their mining template creation options later this year.
I'm officially a #Bitcoin #Miner.
Finally, been waiting so long to be able to add to the hashrate, even if just a little - And hopefully this is just the beginning of my contribution to mining.
That's a node (inc. LN), a miner, #nostr relay, a full personal data self-custody stack, and each of these being a world unto themselves in exploring and staying up-to-date on, and what a journey it's been.

Another option! The Sovran Stack.
The more options, the less excuse one has to not be running their own node. And includes Lightning.
This is another reason to AVOID CEXs.
#Bitcoin is for everyone. It is all-inclusive.
CEXs border-control this based on your FIAT STATUS.
WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE?
Defined by your pre-determined fiat status?
Or free to be defined by your own actions?
They left out the part where by doing this they turn the LSPs using this API into centralised points ripe for regulatory capture and KYC. I see it as more of a trap than anything else.
Heard about this in the tail end of 2021, to this day I wonder how more people do not question this.
Fiat monetary policy, at its finest.
nostr:npub1v0lxxxxutpvrelsksy8cdhgfux9l6a42hsj2qzquu2zk7vc9qnkszrqj49 Are there plans for Snort on Android to be able to call an installed wallet for payments?
I'm finding the LND option to be super unreliable. Once I set the secret phrase followed by the password, it connects but:
a) It locks after browsing a couple pages
b) Upon using the password to unlock after a), it doesn't unlock reliably. No logs on my LND backend that I can see.
#Lightning LSPs implementing fiat ramps are making themselves targets for regulatory capture.
#Breez and any wallet that implements its #Fiatlink API will follow #WalletOfSatoshi and either exit markets or need to force KYC upon its users.
Less fiat stake.
More Bitcoin stack.
I would suggest caution, as it's hard tonpredict the future based on current levels of attempted (enforceable or not) regulation. Most people who happily KYC their Bitcoin do not kjow how UTXOs actually work and what that actually means even for their "cold storage" Bitcoin.
Example, the recent bill in the US that aims to tax Bitcoin P2P transactions over a specific amount, while I believe to be non-enforceable, would come into play here.
People who joined their Bitcoin UTXOs to their government-based ID would be essentially gamed out of using Bitcoin as the true P2P system it is, at least the KYC'd UTXOs.
I've always been a proponent of non-KYC, not for the current usage, but future-based changes. We don't know yet how far governments are willing to go.
As an example, it seems to me like most people who are okay with KYC are ultimately just waiting to cash out, at which point they pay their taxes and that's that. The Bitcoin protocol, and its very ethos, stand for and offer something else entirely in its potential for daily usage as a store of value and currency.
Another example, anyone not expecting Bitcoin to satisfy the requirements as a microTX currency is again basing their opinion solely on the present, not understanding how protocol develop upwards in a stack, again, regardless if Lightning succeeds or not.
In summary, I think there're too many uncertainties around KYC and what that means for a government's power over a stack of sats. Someone is always able to KYC a stack, but going in reverse is not as easy/straight-forward. Bitcoin is a low-time-preference game, not just in gains but in its very development.
As such, it makes sense to keep the usage of Bitcoin as pure as possible - It is a SEPERATE system to fiat. Attempting to merge the two might well turn into a trap, wittingly or not. Apologies for the long read.
This.
When I talk about consolidating UTXOs and getting rid of doxxic change, this the beginning.
I wonder how this would work.
Example, let's say I want to search for "Nostr Clients".
Of all the pages I know that list out Nostr clients, I don't think there's one that is actually connected to Nostr, they're just html web pages, which makes sense. The result of the search would likely be a bunch of notes on the term nostr clients, which may not return anything particularly useful.
Maybe we need basic webpages that can be edited over time AS Nostr notes.
OR, just use lists..
