Do flat-earthers believe that daylight lasts longer in New York in the summer than in the winter?

How do they explain that? Do they think the sun moves over New York more slowly in June than in December?

When I was young I read a thing about the limitations of science. It said basically "Hey, look at the platypus! Evolution can't explain that!" and at the time it really seemed like the weird Aussie river creature didn't fit into any of the nice neat evolutionary boxes. It has hair, but it lays eggs. Not a bird, not a mammal, not a fish, what the hell is it?

So someone used the example of the platypus to poke holes in a well-established scientific theory. People who have a strong desire to prove Darwin wrong will claim that the platypus conundrum is all they need. Sorry. No dice.

Later I learned zoology's simple logical explanation of how the platypus evolved to possess such exquisite weirdness, but even if it stayed an inexplicable exception to the rule, that still doesn't prove evolution wrong. The evidence for evolution as the origin of species is overwhelming. It would take a massive groundbreaking paradigm shift to get people to rethink that. One goofy critter doesn't seem to fit the pattern is nowhere near proof that Anti-Evolution Theory is true.

It's exactly the same with flat-earthers who say "yeah, well physics has this weird paradox". True or not there is overwhelming evidence that the earth is round. Poking a few holes in a few things people believe is very far from proving the earth is flat.

Regarding experiments, I did one yesterday. I went out in my yard at 10 a.m. and recorded the relative position of the sun. Then I did the same 4 hours later. Guess what? Either my yard moved or the sun did, or maybe both. Motion can be measured : - D

I've been in an airplane on a clear day. I've seen the curvature of the earth with my own eyes, on many occasions. What evidence do the flat earthers have that proves what I saw wasn't real?

One guy in about 200BC, a Greek speaker living in Egypt proved the earth was round and even measured it's size with pretty amazing accuracy.

Why should I believe a bunch of lunatic conspiracy theorists and not all the normal honest scientists who give simple explanations that make sense?

Jenn Ketcheson doesn't say what she means by "kids". She speaks with an American accent. So I assume she's, like me, from the US. In our county people use "kids" to mean 17 year olds but also 7 year olds. Two age groups that have nothing in common.

A story: Mr Beerbelly is French. He lives in Paris. He's almost 50. He's a bit overweight. So is his wife. He doesn't have a good sex life. He watches porn. It's mostly beautiful women aged 18-25.

I believe that there will always be an age of consent.

In healthy countries it will be set shortly after puberty, so age 14 or 15.

More prudish sex-phobic countries will have higher ages 16 or more. They will get worse results. Turning healthy people into sex offenders is dysfunctional.

Needlessly criminalizing harmless behavior is just wrong.

Quite simply it's easy to make 10 year olds stay celibate.

It's much harder after puberty when our bodies have adult sex hormones, and adult sex drives.

Policing young adults to make sure that they're only having sex with "age appropriate" people is not practical and it's completely useless.

Folks between 18 and old age don't have toxic genitals. Nor do they have any magic brainwashing power.

The young woman was 17 and she took the racy photos herself and consensually distributed them to some friends.

All indicators are that it was no big deal to her, to her friends, or even to her parents, who didn't want a federal case made out of it.

The GIANT PROBLEM here was caused only by the effort to "protect" her.

The principal is facing 12 years in prison, and life on the sex offender registry.

I have no idea why the young woman herself was not charged with distributing child porn. She was not 18 when those pics were taken.

In the 1980s "young adult" was just another term for "teenager"

today everyone says, and believes that young adulthood starts AFTER you stop being a teenager.

In the minds of the American public teens stopped being young adults and started being old children.

It is much easier to justify the infantilization of, or putting legal restrictions on 16 year old children than on 16 year old adults.
