Isn’t the bulk of the data usage from images? As long as a user doesn’t go on global that much on mobile, would that make a difference?
Twitter’s version of discover is highly algorithmic, I would want Discover for nostr to be strictly the most liked posts, no algorithms or recommendation engines.
To add to this, I think Global should be broken up into Global (with relay filtering like you said) and “Discover” which just shows the most liked posts on our relays for that day.
This way, those that like to use Global to try to find interesting posts from different accounts don’t have to wade through all of Global, and can just use the Discover feature.
Seems like the more convenient way to handle this is with an update to the contact list of a user that includes a blocklist that relays can recognize, and that clients can detect and apply on their end as well.
Is that a common thing Chinese iPhone users do to get apps removed from the Chinese App Store?
Interesting! Is this a fork of Hamstr.to that you built specifically for Chinese users?
Yeah Android users in China def have more options to bypass blocks, iPhone users on the other hand are gonna have a harder time 😂
Yeah that makes sense, I figured it would be Iris and Snort. Though blocking web clients is even easier for the Chinese gov to do, so I’m curious what their options will be after that.
I wonder what the predominant client is for new Chinese users, now that Damus was removed from their App Store.
Nice! There’s also #[3] for following their Twitter feed here
#[0] Is there a way to filter relays on nostr.watch by the type of relay software they’re running? Would be cool to be able to see a list of the 7 relays that are running strfry
This is the nos2x fork for Firefox that #[2] has endorsed as the go-to for Firefox going forward
The original 3 church centers were Alexandria, Rome, and Antioch
Which interestingly still kinda coincides with the modern day:
Rome: Roman Catholic Church
Constantinople: Eastern Orthodox Church (Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, etc)
Alexandria: Coptic Orthodox Church of Egypt
Antioch: Orthodox Churches of Syria and India
Jerusalem: This ones very complicated lol
Yup, you’re referring to the Pentarchy:
"Pentarchy is a model of Church organization formulated in the laws of Emperor Justinian I (527–565) of the Roman Empire. In this model, the Christian church is governed by the heads (patriarchs) of the five major episcopal sees of the Roman Empire: Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem.”
Took some inspiration from #[0] ’s recent improvements to rsslay!
You now have direct links to the nostr profiles created for your Twitter friends on Snort, Iris, Astral, and a link that opens up the profile in Damus directly!
