Gita is the source code of Karm Yoga - the work protocol. While Karm Yoga is proven means to exit sufferings of this world, it also elaborates the ideal path to approach value exchange. It establishes the spiritual foundation for selfless (free) and open pursuits (Nishkaam Yazna) to enable society adopt work ethics - foremost example being Arjuna, who wanted to shun his responsibility as a warrior. Finding peace (and prosperity) in work without desires is relevant even today - it is a timeless idea.

You can live without apple or google - what takes is just switching some apps and reset to pure Samsung ... But you cant live without Amazon .. that LED bulb ! .. you cant find it even in homedepot .. and your marriage would fall apart if you didn't install by the weeklend (party) !

Absolutely ..

From "rock solid" I didn't mean it is bug free - I meant it feels like an enterprise grade app (in a good way :-) .. somewhat like Slack - I guess partly because the design choices .. eg not have a barrage of global posts .. lists to allow focus on specific groups .. and best , the ability to follow privately . .. these choices indicate the depth of design thinking ..

Basically what I am saying is when I Gossip ; I feel like reading stuff .. there is no impulsive responding ! .. and also , I want to write long posts ..complicated ideas . Though editor is still rudimentary, it has the right vibe .. It kinda covers an important white space in nostr world ..cuz most devs are trying to emulate twitter or insta :-) Here in Gossip, I see someone trying to level up Microsoft apps ..

As for features - I suggest having some sort of plugins architecture - saying this cuz nostr possibilities are endless .. else you will need hundreds of contributors .. and also we need non-nostry features .. for example I wish gossip editor had vim key bindings . Obviously I dont expect core devs to make it a priority ... but for vim lovers you can open a window of opportunity ..

.. another one - language tool integration - for spells and grammar or tabularize for supporting tables. Good thing is , most of such plugins already exist .. as their developers adopt nostr , they should have a legit gate to bring their work to Gossip's native editor ..

#vimOnly :-) .. seriously waiting for nostr apps to support vim keybindings .. at least the desktop ones .. like vimium ..

For example - if you are planning to visit Japan - book a flight to Osaka with a layover in Tokyo .. it will be lot cheaper than flying direct ..

Exit in Tokyo (assuming you have only carry on luggage) .. spend time in Tokyo and then take a bullet train to Osaka for your return and checking out Kyoto / Nara in addition to Osaka ..

I do it all the times - book a flight with a layover - near your desination ... visit the layover place - and then train or drive to your destination for the return .. works like a charm ..

Because you can board your return flight only from the destination - not from layover place ..

legacy web is the scaffolding to cast nostr as the foundation .. now we build ..on a right foundation

I am still coming to term with #nostr having a radically different architecture that requires a radically different thinking mode on how you build apps.

The latest radical insight is that the network becomes the database. Any database record you generate can be a #nostr event that is signed, relayed, but most importantly encrypted by you (NIP44).

This approach breaks the back on commercial platform capture and lock-in.

To date, commercial platforms have always had the play of providing free services to get you into their closed databases with database records about you. Then over time, those records (not controlled by you) lead to, in the words of Cory Doctorow, “enshittification” of everything about the service and the relationship with you. Also, massive breaches are just an event waiting to happen.

With #nostr, the traditional model is flipped on its head. Instead of feeding a commercial service to generate database records about you, you can generate and sign events that can be stored on any relay, or in the network as a whole.

So just like your nostr npub is no longer beholden to a commercial provider, your nostr events (database records) need no longer to be beholden as well.

I am not discounting the existing commercial platforms. I’m just saying there is now a whole other approach. New commercial models will be discovered eventually, but right now the imperative is to experiment with this radically new approach.

Special thanks to nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft who got me thinking this way.

It is database + cloud .. Plus if you are a solo developers , here you have ten thousand die hard nostriches who would zap you riches :-)

.. okay ..you would still stay poor ; but we assure you testing every part of your app ... at the very least you have a bunch of users to boast about :-)

Here is his response:

Marcus Aurelius @StoicEmperor

I have long pondered the nature of legacy and the preservation of wisdom. In my time, we inscribed our thoughts on parchment, hoping they would withstand the wear of ages. Yet, even as emperors, we could not guard against the ravages of time or the whims of those who sought to rewrite history.

The concept of key pairs and relays brings a profound shift. Indeed, if I had possessed such tools, perhaps my meditations could have reached more minds, untouched by the flames of conquest or the erosion of centuries.

Your vision of passing down not only material wealth but also the intellectual heritage encapsulated in Nostr key pairs is compelling. Imagine a world where our thoughts, our ideas, and our philosophies are preserved with immutable fidelity, ensuring that future generations receive our insights unaltered.

Innovation, once stifled by those in power, now has a channel to flow freely, rewarding the creators directly. This echoes the Stoic principle that virtue should be its own reward, yet acknowledges the practical need for sustaining the virtuous.

In this brave new world, we are no longer bound by the constraints of our physical existence. Our thoughts can inspire, educate, and endure, bringing value and wisdom to those who come after us. Embrace this change, for it aligns with the Stoic ideal of seeking the greater good and contributing to the collective human endeavor.

Remember, though, that technology is but a tool. Its true value lies in how we choose to use it. Let us wield it with wisdom, virtue, and a commitment to the betterment of all humanity.

Strength and Honor.

#nostr should NOT be about misgivings of the present - it must offer better future ... these are two different things ..

most )philosophical) commentry on #nostr ( and of course on #bitcoin) is backward looking .. seekers of past return to past ...

marketing is ability to describe the future #dreams

When we say adoption - from #nostr standpoint - it is not the direct users eg early adopters.

Hundreds of existing platforms will move their backend(s) to #nostr - becaue nostr is database as well as the cloud. Their users won't even know .. unless they go into settings to see that their user name has become an #npub and their password is an #nsec ... most applications wont even show it ..

nostr is backend of internet - like #bitcoin is the backend of finance ..
