I also have identity proof of work aggregation based on the sum of all their events batch processing. Maybe 50% done.
I think I only had 350 pow. Was less than I expected. That’s without trying and 100% random. From maybe 2,200 events.
Event pow aggregation is a step deeper. Sum of all pow for an event and it’s replies. More intensive to calculate, but fairly ok if stream processing against existing values.
Maybe a black hole. Maybe a useful way to identify value and/or low value content.
I have sent and received ZAPs working now with amount + comment, etc. not shown above.
The issue is validating ZAPs is very non-deterministic. Lots of failure points - non-spec, DNS, changed lud06, receiver old metadata event, etc.
Skip validation and it’s far less brittle.. and I think that’s what people are doing today in client apps.
Is anyone else validating ZAPs? What’s your experience?
Good afternoon, today’s #OpenSourceDaily project is https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl youtube-dl is a command line utility written in Python under The Unlicense that can download videos from YouTube and other sites. It works surprisingly well and does not require a YouTube API key to use. You can also use the -x option to rip the audio after a video downloads. This one is interesting because it is one of the only projects I’m aware of to be censored from GitHub. Microsoft failed to keep it censored when thousands of users uploaded forks of the code. The fact that it has 118k stars suggests that they have stopped trying to censor it.

I’m going to batch process identities proof of work aggregate sum (of all their events). And compare with spam and scammers.
I still like the idea that a good user over time builds upon a pow agg score - and conversely spammers have a higher and higher barrier/cost.
A disadvantage for new users perhaps, but shouldn’t last long if they contribute - or perhaps others with existing high pow agg by interacting with them give a boost.

It’s blurred on the fly. We’ve had multiple explicit image floods and such - so unless you are following someone, images are masked until revealed. Global at times became a mess 😅
It could likely be less strict, like show for following reposts and friends of friends.
