Violinist and teacher, building a homestead on raw land in between lessons and concerts. Fascinated by how we can develop resilience in our lives, in our families, in our communities. I'm excited about freedom tech and circular economies, and am deeply grateful for the devs and advocates who are helping build tools for a better future.

oh boy. I'm right there with you.

After reading all the responses I think I'm more confused than I was before. They're very clear explanations but I must be missing something.

In any case, you're not wondering about how to store the private keys, right? (You're wondering why have a wallet if you have already secured the keys?)

I'm not sure if I'm going to do you any good in this convo beause I'm fumbling around 😬 but my question would be - if not a hot wallet, where does that initial setting up of the seed phrase happen? I don't know a way to do that offline except with a cold wallet

uh oh

Think of the fallout if (when?) there were a rug on one of the ETFs 😢

I assumed some kind of rug would happen at some point but that it would be in the form of a 6102. "Due to XXX national emergency, the US govt will require all the bitcoin held in exchanges and custodial services. Thank you for your understanding"

yep, I know. Me too! Another year or two of lows to stack would have been great.

We could just form a group (much like nostr:npub17nvfw7g53nxjghyd2zg552z06cke0jc0k69hj7ns7f9pw26j9kusap4u85 does for workouts) and meet weekly on NostrNests to set the weeks' goals. The timing might be tricky across different time zones, but if we have enough folks in the group we could eventually break into more local groups.

There are so many Nostr clients that I have never explored, and I bet some of them lend themselves really nicely to this kind of thing.

Actually I've been wondering this for voice as well. It would be amazing to have an app that introduces just enough distortion that faces and voices can't be identified.

Circular economy. Just like using Nostr because it's the social media we want to see, we need to buy from each other in btc because that's the world we want to see.

Easier said than done, I know! We should start a group on here where support each other/share ideas to keep building ways to earn in bitcoin and purchase in bitcoin. Might be fun to have a challenge each month, starting with something like: how much of our food can we buy locally with btc.

If your body is already used to using fat as a fuel, you won't necessarily get a big withdrawal from reducing carbs. Everyone is different!

Personally I find that having some sweet stuff is way more difficult than having none. Once I've allowed a bit of transition time (a week? 10 days?) zero carb is easier for me than low carb. On low carb I'm constantly fighting the impulse for a second piece of apple or dark chocolate - because I can easily inhale a whole dark chocolate bar - whereas once I've transitioned to carnivore I just don't really care about sweet tastes anymore. (Which begs the question of why I left carnivore a few times! I may post about that soon.)
