Luke has advocated to lower blocksize to 300kb since the blocksize war

To be honest, I don't think it will make any difference today to the number of nodes. Storage and bandwidth are hardly bottlenecks

I did a trial of nostr:nprofile1qqs9avl6hmfcqrma3s3haa94c4h436skujtl44qvlht59hwhxksr8ngpzemhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctcpz4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezummcw3ezuer9wchsuwkc8a's pool mining today. It was 1000 sats for 3hrs of 120TH/s hash power using the Braiins pool. It was easy to sign up, pay the invoice, and begin hashing. I was able to monitor my workers the whole time with the hash rate fluctuating between 105TH/s and 120TH/s. I made 595 sats over my 3 hours.

As well as it all worked, I'm a little confused as to why I would pay for larger hash contracts given that my return on a 1000 sat investment was 595 sats. I'd effectively be paying to receive about 50% of the expense. That doesn't make sense to me. Am I missing something? #musings

It would only make sense for them to sell hashrate for more than the revenue it would generate.

It can still be a useful service. For one, It's a way of laundering KYC-ed Bitcoin into non-KYC Bitcoin, which some might value. And when purchasing future hashrate it's also a bet on bitcoins future price that might pay off

No matter how much shitcoining, there will always be a maxi around to defend it 😜

It's the name you want to give to this specific connection. This way you can easily recognize it when you create multiple NWC connections and set different daily limits for each connection / app.

A lovely wetland from space, Senegal

Happy Valentine's day you bunch of weirdos ❤️

That's what I thought too until yesterday. But under Primal settings there's an option to add "Other wallet". I simply scanned the Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC) QR from Minibits and was done. Works on desktop as well as mobile. Also works for Amethyst (mobile)

GM, and welcome back to 🤡🌍

The "Gulf of America" was just the beginning apparently. We're only just warming up and we're already at "Red, white and blue land" (previously known as Greenland). What will retarded politicians think of next?

However, as a Dutchman, I'm considering to make an exception and support this one 🇳🇱

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (would oversee X as a payment provider in their new partnership with Visa)

Federal Aviation Administration (Space X illegal rocket launches)

Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (workplace discrimination at Tesla)

...from the top of my head, the list is probably longer...

I totally agree with you, let's be clear on that. However, the preconditions for that to happen are good laws and enforcement of these by a strong independent judiciary.

I'm afraid in the current context these conditions are far from met. Nobody will be able to hold Musk accountable for anything, let alone Trump. They're literally breaking the constitution already and cancelling bills passed by Congress. Power typically doesn't reign itself back in...

Julian Assange explains the 2025 USAID debacle, eleven years ago:

‘The received wisdom in advanced capitalist societies is that there still exists an organic “civil society sector” in which institutions form autonomously and come together to manifest the interests and will of citizens. The fable has it that the boundaries of this sector are respected by actors from government and the “private sector,” leaving a safe space for NGOs and nonprofits to advocate for things like human rights, free speech, and accountable government.

This sounds like a great idea. But if it was ever true, it has not been for decades.

Since at least the 1970s, authentic actors like unions and churches have folded under a sustained assault by free-market statism, transforming "civil society" into a buyer's market for political factions and corporate interests looking to exert influence at arm's length. The last forty years have seen a huge proliferation of think tanks and political NGOs whose purpose, beneath all the verbiage, is to execute political agendas by proxy.

It is not just obvious neocon front groups like Foreign Policy Initiative. It also includes fatuous Western NGOs like Freedom House, where naïve but well-meaning career nonprofit workers are twisted in knots by political funding streams, denouncing non-Western human rights violations while keeping local abuses firmly in their blind spots.

The civil society conference circuit—which flies developing-world activists across the globe hundreds of times a year to bless the unholy union between "government and private stakeholders" at geopoliticized events like the "Stockholm Internet Forum"—simply could not exist if it were not blasted with millions of dollars in political funding annually…’

Yet, I think it would also be fair to say that Assange being "freed" happened, at least in part, because of pressure on the US/UK/AUS govts from some principled civil society organisations in the human rights and press freedom sectors.

What's your take this?

Big tech, big pharma, big oil, etc will be very quick to fill that power vacuum. I'm not sure that will be a win for most people

The "bureaucratic bs" just happen to be the exact same agencies that were investigating Tesla/X/Space X

"Some technocratic crap" will turn out to be a corporate surveillance state with zero rights for citizens and zero regulations for big tech

It's not hard to see if you're not on the Elon/Trump bandwagon
