Always got time for a bit of Nujabes
Also, love the hitchhikers reference!
Man, that's awesome, thanks!
Being revolting? π
I have an old desktop pc sat under my desk that I desperately need to turn into a home sever, definitely, definitely gonna happen! As soon as I find the time...
Or maybe I'll just buy a NUC...
Seems like a real shame considering how many users there are on there!
I like these, are you the artist?
Is this about Damus/apple?
Yeah running your own node is very rewarding! You should document your journey on here! π
But I love running my own bitcoin node. It's been a great learning project and I'm happy that I can use bitcoin a bit more privately, and being able to verify, and not trust!
No I only run a bitcoin node, I would like to run a ln node at some point as a project, but I don't really use ln much apart from on here, so the costs of keeping channels loaded and balanced don't look worth it in my use case at present. When there are more merchants and services who accept ln then I will, as at that point transacting on ln rather than bitcoin l1 makes complete sense.
But no fear, I think the umbrel package will do all the heavy lifting for you once you've got it started up.
Yes you will be able to run a routing node. Lightning interacts with the base layer, its just an app on top of bitcoin, so it's kind of one and the same.
Ah fair play! Although I think you have to run the bitcoin node to run the ln node. Anyway, you will be best off having a l1 wallet backed by your own node when coming on and off l2!

This is seriously awesome! Who needs Reddit anymore! Solves content discovery to an extent as well.
This sounds interesting! How does it work? It's a separate app that you put your nostr private key into? Apologies, nostr noob here!
Yeah it's definitely possible to run umbrel on one! Are you planning on running a ln node as well as the bitcoin node?
Thats awesome! A whole new rabbit hole for you to dove down! π
Rpi are expensive now, and probably wouldn't be the hardware I would suggest if I was building my own today.
I would go for either something like a rockpro if you are set in a single board type thing, or preferably a small computer like:

Much more robust and stable than a pi and won't use that much more power. And these days not that much more expensive really either.
Monday night #gym sesh done. Get it! π¦Ύ
