Pornography in general is a blight on society, and this mentality shows how little many people think of their fellow man and the consequences their degeneracy may have on others. I cannot express just how vehemently I oppose pornography in all its forms, and this recent ability to create it with believable likenesses of real people without their permission may be the most vile permutation we have seen to date.
That said, there is very little that can be done about it.
I am not an anarchist. I believe there is a legitimate role for civil government to play in society. Nevertheless, that role should be kept as small as possible, and I cannot see a way to curb vile actions like those mentioned above without imbuing SOME institution, government or otherwise, with the authority to censor speech, which authority can be too easily used to censor any other form of speech.
Sadly, this means that as long as there is a market for it, such content will be made, and I can't foresee a time where the market for it will dry up.
Maybe someone more intelligent or inventive than me can think of a way to curb it without endangering freedom of speech in general, but I cannot.
We technically *could* store it, but don’t. Same risk with Amber. Check the code 😎 https://github.com/wavlake/mobile
You're not wrong, for sure. But I will take having only 1 app that could store my nsec over giving EVERY app access to it any day. The less possible points of exposure the better.
Looking forward to the day I can have my nsec on a tapsigner and even Amber won't be able to store it. (pls nostr:npub1az9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgstam8y8)
Thank you for that clarification!
I still prefer "can't store" to "don't store," though.
Mempools are currently stacked with block after block of these UTXO consolidation transactions, all at 23 sats/vbyte. Going to take a while to make it through them all, even if the ordinals and BRC20 goons seem to be taking a break.

I am.
Would also like to try and get nsecbunker working for me, but haven't had luck so far.
Philosophically, the more of us who won't use apps that require us to trust them with our nsec, the more apps that will at least have it on their roadmap.
Understood. The app won't be on my roadmap unless or until Amber is an option. Until then, I will use the website with browser extension.
I missed this, so maybe you did too! nostr:npub1yfg0d955c2jrj2080ew7pa4xrtj7x7s7umt28wh0zurwmxgpyj9shwv6vg is now available for the world's largest operating system! Android users, rejoice! Value for value music powered by Bitcoin and Nostr is here!
Join the beta here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.wavlake.mobile
You'll have to login with your NSEC as the app does not support Amber (yet?). From there, you can Zap from your default wallet or you can enable one tap to zap with NWC and you can even update your status!

Right? I used to be about as involved in politics as you can get without actually running for office. Now I realize the incentive structure there is such that it will only continue to get worse until there is no longer a means to inflate away the debt.

Yeah... As someone who is considering being an Uncle Jim for his family, I have to say that I considered going the eCash route, but decided against it
If they lose their phone they are SOL unless they know how to create a backup of their tokens, which defeats the purpose of being an Uncle Jim for the less technically inclined.
Just in time for Valentine's Day.
Think you could make me a purple one and an orange one? 💜🧡
It's an app manager that makes it easier to keep apps you downloaded outside of the official Google Playstore up to date. Just add the link to the GitHub repo for the releases of an app like those mentioned above.
Here's the GitHub for Obtainium: https://github.com/ImranR98/Obtainium
A couple good ones I didn't have yet. Thanks!
Installed #Obtainium today. How did I ever manage without this?
Shill me apps I should add.
I have the usual suspects added already: #Amethyst nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg #Amber #Firefox and #Bitwarden
I also added a few I am trying out: nostr:npub1dx5q2el8nd4eh3eg9t2e25fd7zuqg7zxz6ldkc3uzgh66ss2yc6st288sj #Minibits nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg and nostr:npub1sn0rtcjcf543gj4wsg7fa59s700d5ztys5ctj0g69g2x6802npjqhjjtws
What are some other great apps to add directly from their repo, so I don't have to get them from Google's playstore?

He certainly looks comfortable.
In general, I agree. However, I would hardly call 1 potential soft fork every few years "flooding." Most folks seem to agree that Bitcoin needs some form of covenants at some point, though. Moreover, nothing requires us to settle on which of the proposed options we want to try and activate any time soon, but we absolutely SHOULD talk about all of the options well in advance - their pros and cons, those with the expertise to review the code, etc.
That being the case, I would hardly call the covenants discussion "flooding" Bitcoin with soft forks. We've had Taproot all the way back in 2021 and now we are in the process of discussing maybe adding covenants sometime in the future.
Now as in today, or as in we see if we can build consensus about adding it in the near to mid future?
What have we changed since taproot? Did I miss something?
Did someone say #RogueMoney?
