If you're a systems admin or working in an IT ops center then you get used to noise, prioritizing tickets and issues as they come in. It gets easy really quick and you learn to not be scared at each orange light. You treat the environment as essentially dumb and incapable of staying on and working. It is beneath you in a sense because you're so incredibly desensitized in order to do your job.
Now imagine being a politician getting the same type of alerts etc. Except now you're desensitized to the human condition.
