Nostr (note and other stuff transferred by relay) is a free open source censorship-resistant protocol for social media where you cannot be deplatformed, shadowbanned, muted.

To join nostr, all you need is to install client which connects you to relays. Relays are basically dumb computers transferring messages.
When launching client first time, it'll generate a set of cryptografic keys (private and public, nsec../npub...) for you.
Your public keys is your "login name", private key is your "password". Never share your private key.
Your public key is what uniquely identifies you on nostr, not your @username!

When note posted, it is signed with your private key and sent to multiple relays. It is out and cannot be deleted. Like you cannot delete an email you've sent.
Nostr integrates natively ligtning network, feel free to drop a ligtning invoice for few sats, somebody will pay it.
You need a ligtning wallet to genereate a lightning invoice (which can be paid only once).
Wallet of Satoshi is probably the easiest way for onboarding newbies.
Keep in mind that Wallet of Satoshi is a CUSTODIAL wallet! Sats in WoS are NOT your sats. When WoS disappears, you'll get rekt. WoS as a tipping jar is fine.
