Yeah, things have changed a lot now. However, the recording remains a classic regardless of the composition of the orchestra.
The Montana state legislature voted to ban TikTok in the state. The bill would prevent a company from allowing people in Montana to download the app.
https://leg.mt.gov/bills/2023/billpdf/SB0419.pdf
The bill states that the reasoning is because 1) China is an adversary to the U.S. and 2) TikTok promotes harmful behavior and collects data on users.
It was sponsored by a Republican and mostly passed by Republicans. Most Democrats opposed it but were outvoted. It still needs to be signed by the governor, and it would be open to court challenges.
I don't like TikTok, but that's not a promising snapshot for where lawmakers are in terms of software control.
"Tiktok may not operate within the territorial jurisdiction of Montana... An entity that violates a provision of this section is liable in the amount of $10,000 for each discrete violation and is liable for an additional $10,000 each day thereafter that the violation continues."
Not sure what they meant by "may not operate". Does this mean that people are not allowed to use the app? The company cannot do business in Montana? Or?

How will they enforce such law? They can't "physically" prevent people from downloading the app (many ways lead to the market). What about the people who has already downloaded the app? You can't ask them to uninstall the app, or stop using the app. Complete waste of tax payers money.
PS: Imagine driving to a neighboring state for the sake of downloading an app. Ha!
Semi-technical question about the Nostr protocol. What's the best course of action for a user whose Nostr private key/mnemonic phrase has been compromised/stolen (e.g. via browser exploit, clipboard/keylogger, etc.)? Back up their original profile and follows, move them to a new account, and delete original account? What's the best practice? Thanks in advance.
Problem solved! On Iris.to, I used the meatballs menu next to the profile picture to access settings related to bio.
Thanks for the response.
I'm able to find where to store the LN address in snort.social, BUT hitting the "save" button results in no action. I've also tried iris.to, but it appears that the protocol doesn't have the LN address field anywhere in the settings.
I'm probably missing something. I'll try different internet browsers. Again, thanks!
#newbie I'm still unable to link my LN address (lacybag01@walletofsatoshi.com) to my Nostr (using either snort.social or iris.to), but here is my LN url: lnbc1pjrcyjspp506mpl4fwchawc45rvs0603qw4hl4wgy3n5xddnj39g2pmn5fxluqdqu2askcmr9wssx7e3q2dshgmmndp5scqzpgxqyz5vqsp5pur99kyv7vxjw8np30szgjehkd95pxk2s6vrx44xekja5qjkfjgq9qyyssqkm5v4ut27y9eru6u0uckkzl97mlvelf4s2akrqusgzglkxhwja0hd68cjp48a3wvc860ex4u2nj8542g5xh9us6a53xts4dmjz669gcpqqhpy4
Thank you, Neo, for sharing the great resources!
Hello world! #newbie here. Oscillating between using iris.to and snort.social. Having some problem storing my LN address (lacybag01@walletofsatoshi.com) using the latter, the former provides no option for storing the address. Any help will be appreciated.
Hello world! I'm not a "social media person" (never posted a tweet, don't have a Facebook, IG, SnapChat, Discord, etc. account) but here I am. Hopefully this protocol/platform lives up to everyone's expectations. #newbie
