First, have you met old people? Second, you're telling me to go with stock Android, but not trust #Mullvad or #GrapheneOS? The idea is to reduce complexity and increase privacy/security for an elderly person who has zero understanding of any of this tech.

nostr:npub1c9d95evcdeatgy6dacats5j5mfw96jcyu79579kg9qm3jtf42xzs07sqfm what are the implications of not getting updates to default apps, etc.? This seems like terrible advice, but it's clearly being passed around. Also, doesn't DivestOS get some patches from GrapheneOS?

While I'm on a roll, I think DivestOS also forces updates of their apps through F-Droid, which is one reason I didn't mess with it. nostr:npub1f6ugxyxkknket3kkdgu4k0fu74vmshawermkj8d06sz6jts9t4kslazcka curious about your thoughts as well.

If you are a man who has no time to tweak custom rom just use stock Android on Pixel or Iphone.

There are no benefits for you with using GrapheneOS and Mullvand. You will be like a beacon nothing more.

Just use IPhone or Pixel with stock Android.

I've never said not to update GrapheneOS or apps. I said DO NOT use their Apps app-disable it. Disable all connections to GrapheneOS.

OS

1. If you're "default setting" person just use stock android with Pixel or Iphone (you can consider lockdown mode).

2. If you have time and want to upgrade your security/privacy approach.

Use Pixel 6+ with DivestOS (install and updates via Tor (dos has this feature, disable supl)

or

install GrapheneOS manually! via Tor, turn off all connection to GrapheneOS servers before first connection. Disable App app, turn off automatic time update, supl, internet connectivity checks etc

IM

1. Android - SimpleX, Iphone - Imessage.

2. Android - Conversations (xmpp) own server, consider using .onion address, SimpleX. Iphone - SimpleX

VPN

1. Do not pay for VPNs. Android - Orbot (Tor) + specific apps or apps which utilise socks5

2. Android- Orbot with full VPN mode, block connections without vpn.

🧐

1. Mullvad - the company is located in Sweden. One of the worst jurisdictions in the World regarding privacy and security. Police can hack lawfully devices.

Every internet service located in Sweden cannot be considered as secure.

2. Signal - it's not open-source. You cannot reproduce their build. You cannot trust their server side code either.

3. GrapheneOS - using this custom ROM with default settings is dangerous (including recommended way of instalation). You're sending your data to an unpredictable person. Using this custom rom you can be easly fingerprinted by any entity which monitors your traffic.

Inserting a photo from Sweden in this context is a proof that you have no idea about privacy and security.

Sweden has one of the most oppressive laws regarding internet security.

Swedish authorities can hack computers, internet infrastructure etc.

You are just ignorants.

Like other entities founded by CIA🀠

Secure/privacy apps 🀑

1. Signal - phone number is needed, registration processes: Cloudflare verification then captcha.

2. Telegram - phone number is needed, registration process: you cannot receive sms code if you are using Tor as VPN.
