Using only a gif, when did you start playing video games? #grownostr

What does prevent us from similar dramas in the future? Internal power play, purposefully intensified by states that want to weaken bitcoin, remains my main concern for the future of bitcoin.

Personally I don't think whatever the Ukraine result will be will make a difference. Those countries and a vast number of the western governments and population already believe that about the 21st Century. I fear westerners have been outwitted.

Who’s your favorite Bitcoiner?

Some of my favorite accounts on Twitter/X share the most interesting videos of animals being weird or cute.

Adorable kittens, intelligent crows, kangaroos that are petting dogs, comical sloths, etc. Weird facts, especially nature stuff.

I purposely follow that stuff because otherwise it's 100% posts about inverted yield curves and bitcoin and stock market breadth and stuff like that.

Would love to see accounts posting that kind of thing on Nostr.

Add trending and other feed categorization, so I get something else than same bitcoin/nostr meme shit over and over. I don't have nostr, because I use android, but atleast on amethyst, there is no way to do any filtering. Primal is most usable client atm, but not available on app store yet.

Another thing is I follow local politics on X. If there would be some way to get that feed to nostr, I wouldn't have to log X again. I know this is because X is closed system, but just saying ;)

Is it just me, or does it seem like everyone is super reluctant to monetize services and relays on #Nostr?

If we can’t make these things sustainable then we will either lose them, or they will stay nothing more than a weird little corner of the internet with lots of hope but no chance of ever scaling.

I still haven’t seen the basic model of zap sharing tried by any major client or relay. But I DO see regularly comments about how expensive relays are. I mean it might not work, but can’t we TRY it?

I want to make the distinction here too that this doesn’t mean we are closing off the network, we are adding permissions to the protocol, this doesn’t suggest at all to used closed source code, we simply need the services necessary to keep this ecosystem robust, to be profitable and have the resources to thrive. If they aren’t, then NONE of this works. Economics is everything.

I know building features is more exciting. I know we all want to make everything that we can free, and I agree all of the *code* should be shared. However, I think there is a natural insecurity (and I say this because I have this problem personally) with charging a fair price, and fearing criticism or the ire of people who believe everything should be free (as in price) when we need things to be free (as in Liberty). They are not the same, and confusing the two could stifle, or drastically slow down, the insane potential of this place.

TL;DR We have GOT to divert some energy to thinking about how to make this ecosystem sustainable, or we will lose it.

I’ve tried cross-posting on Nostr and the Elon app.

Now I think I’ve finally reached the point where the average Nostr post matches the engagement of the bird app post.

Which is ironic because on X I have 13k followers and I pay $8/month just to avoid getting shadowbanned.

The profits (which are about $5/book) from the first 1,000 copies of Broken Money are going to the HRF Bitcoin Development Fund.

I think I will put the profits from copies 2,000-5,000 into making a slick animated YouTube video about the history of money and banking and the emergence of Bitcoin (basically the 30-minute summary of Broken Money). Kind of like Dalio’s “How the Economic Machine Works” video.

A popular 500 page finance book can reach tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of people. But an equivalent video, while not as deep, has the potential to reach millions as a different part of the knowledge funnel.

Because, I dunno. Fuck profits I guess. The rest of my business covers profits; the book is for a different purpose.
