The heavy-handed sanctions the US placed on Russia were largely ineffective and had the unintended (? how did they not expect it?) consequence of driving Russia into the arms of India, China, and others.
Throughout history, the rich and powerful have usually found ways to weasel out of the consequences of their wrongdoing and greed. Let it not be this way with the people who visited Epstein’s island or those who turned a blind eye to it.

Blocking a new technology is not any kind of solution. Yes, ChatGPT causes some problems that don’t have easy solutions. Bitcoin causes some problems. I don’t have easy solutions. It doesn’t mean it’s going to go away. Just blocking the technology is a terrible solution. Ask the Japanese how banning the use of guns went for them. Today is the anniversary of the Kanagawa Treaty of 1854 that opened Japan to US trade. Sorry samurai, guns are stronger than swords. Burying your head in the sand, and ignoring that fact, isn’t going to solve anything, only post pone inevitable.

Everyone with ties to Jeffrey and his island need to be taken down, arrested, put on trial, and put in jail for the rest of their lives. It sure seems like Bitcoin will follow TikTok and ChatGPT in the discussion of what to ban next. Bitcoin has been on the brink of a ban for a while, but it seems like conditions are more ripe for such a thing as ever before. The Restrict Act (Patriot Act 2.0) is just a continuation of our sleepwalking into authoritarianism. Not sure how much longer we will be able to honestly say “land of the free” if we don’t get our act together.

Tom Emmer seems to be one of those pro-crypto politicians. The tide seems to be turning towards the anti-crypto crowd, so it remains to be seen how this is going to play out.
