His ā€œserviceā€ isn’t necessary. They market their own product(s). Or at least my buddy does. He sees this persons as a schtick that leverages his work for someone else’s profit. He’s a big time bitcoiner and a hard pass on TS.

My buddy who is a cattle farmer doesn’t think Texas Slim is particularly useful. He feels like Texas Slim is identifying with the cattle farming industry without putting in the real work associated with cattle farming. He is profiting off of the labors of real farmers while traveling around and building an influencer persona.

(I agree with my friend but I don’t have a cattle farm so my opinion is less valuable than someone who has skin in the game. I think most influencer types are fiat.)

Real estate returns on equity have been high for the last 30+ years because the amount of equity fronted by the owner relative to the appreciation of the real estate has been very low.

The rest of the funding is bank debt and as long as rental payment can cover the bank note, property taxes, insurance, and modest maintenance then there is very little the equity needs to do other than just sit there and get the juiced returns.

This dynamic was especially prescient over the last 30 years because they just kept lowering interest payments and coming up with creative mortgage loans.

In that environment: buy a home, wait 3 years, refi, buy another home wait 3 years, refi, but 2 more homes … the boomers didn’t have to do much to get rich…

If bitcoin has taught me one thing, it’s lowering my time preference. We just have to wait out his heart disease. Who is 2nd in command of BIS and what’s their origin story?
