Itâs an investment product so itâs not risk free, but neither is selling your bitcoin.
The most tangible risk is underperforming MSTR just by the nature of running covered calls on a highly volatile stock. But theoretically it has all the risks a security would have.
Monetizing volatility through options trading is not Celsius or FTX gambling on shitcoins despite what ops would say.
Since MSTY has been in the market, it would have been a much better play to use MSTY than selling off Bitcoin.
Itâs been a while since I ran the numbers, but I believe if you had sold an amount of Bitcoin equal to the MSTY distributions each month (to leave on), you would have run out of Bitcoin in like 10 months.
Bitwise launched an MSTY competitor, IMST, led by Jeff Park, a week ago. I highly recommend listening to the latest episode of MSTR True North, where Jeff was a guest and talked about these types of products.

Ideologues will throw a tantrum at the idea of doing something like this, but remember itâs better to be a winner than a martyr.
Leave the fantasy utopian ideas to children
If you donât monetize Bitcoinâs volatility, someone else will

Marriage is for religious people. Donât recommend for atheists, especially if youâre a guy. Too much risk.
Yeah I have a bitaxe too. Happy I have both, but not much would change if I didnât
Isnât that assuming the market broadly views bitcoin as a hard money instead of a risk on equity?
The suddenly phase may be 10 years away and we could trade with the Qs until then

He had a weird beef with the amount people can talk about a subject they are not an expert in. You can tell he is mad âthe expertsâ took a big L during covid, so now he has to pretend to be ok with ânon expertsâ calling BS on stuff.
The whole pod felt kind of staged and inorganic
Good call, I regret listening to the whole thing
People get distracted and forget the goal is to grow the stack.
Most havenât fully groked the the implications of bittyâs finite supply
No
In principle, itâs good to have one mainly so you donât depend on someone elseâs node to broadcast your transactions. But itâs kind of a larp.
If you have a server running other services, then you might as well run a Bitcoin node, but otherwise, donât feel like you have to.
MSTR is outperforming the S&P500 and Bitcoin YTD and over the last 12 months
Not many had that in their bingo cards. No wonder all the derangement and bewilderment
