If you want to spend with a high level of confidence in your privacy, just use Monero. There is no discussion here as far as I’m concerned. Far less to trip yourself on.
Whenever this subject is raised though, the LN guys usually flip the conversation to savings instead of privacy

You can’t hide from metadata bro, no matter how great your opsec is, but you can hide your messages.
Companies with CEO’s are HEEEWG targets, and very easy to steer or corrupt with the slightest threat of jail time.
They can’t threaten the underlying technology, so I prefer to cut out the fat.
I used to be bullish about encrypted chat applications. Now not so much.
I have trust in certain encryption technologies, but not when wrapped up nicely with a convenience bow on top, by profit targeted companies.
If it’s too convenient, I don’t trust it anymore. Privacy and convenience are enemies.
