Steve Jobs about chatgpt :)

"When I was going to school, I had a few great teachers and a lot of mediocre teachers. And the thing that probably kept me out of jail was the books. I could go and read what Aristotle or Plato wrote without an intermediary in the way. And a book was a phenomenal thing. It got right from the source to the destination without anything in the middle.

The problem was, you can’t ask Aristotle a question. And I think, as we look towards the next fifty to one hundred years, if we really can come up with these machines that can capture an underlying spirit, or an underlying set of principles, or an underlying way of looking at the world, then, when the next Aristotle comes around, maybe if he carries around one of these machines with him his whole life—his or her whole life—and types in all this stuff, then maybe someday, after this person’s dead and gone, we can ask this machine, “Hey, what would Aristotle have said? What about this?” And maybe we won’t get the right answer, but maybe we will. And that’s really exciting to me. And that’s one of the reasons I’m doing what I’m doing."

How to encourage women to smoke? How to shift society from a needs-driven consumption to a desire-driven? How PR was invented?

An interesting episode by Adam Curtis about Edward Bernays, Sigmund Freud’s nephew, who was the first to apply Freud’s ideas to manipulate the masses

Built decentralized eBay on ETHGlobal and won a bunch of prizes —> it feels like there is a clear need. Figured I should build it on nostr next time

On what “could go wrong?” aspect:

1) Privacy issues, obviously, but this could be addressed I believe

2) Being exposed to competing governments that do not employ same transparency

3) harder to change?, i.e. sometimes revealing information too soon makes change impossible or very difficult

1) trust - transparency is pre-requisite for trust, thus I believe we will trust our government

2) accountability - it should be easier to keep everyone accountable

3) engagement - my experience proves that the more transparent you are with your employees, the more they are involved and, later, invested

Top applications of zk proofs:

1) identity, e.g. Tinder for high net worth

2) offchain compute - verifying the machine learning model execution on private data

3) privacy - zkcash, private smart contracts

4) scalability - zk rollups
