I'm fascinated by things like this for reasons I can't possibly articulate.
I almost bought one just to try it out and take it apart... but instead I'll just tell ya'll about it... I bet there are other interesting ways to use such a device. For example... you could detect if a chair is being sat in or not by putting it inside of a pillow...
Here is a cool little gadget I'd never heard of before. It's a temperature datalogger. It lasts 60 days. Sadly I think it may be disposable (but I'd imagine rechargeable versions exist. )
Suppose you are shipping fruit across the country and you've paid extra to have the trucks chilled down to 65F. How do you know they didn't ship them at 75F and only lower the temp fully just before arrival?
Hide this bad boy in your shipment, then check the USB for data on arrival.
They cost about $4 each.

I thought about doing that, but since I wouldn’t show such extraordinary sensitivity to other organizations (for example when similar threats have been made against LGBTQ orgs, eg burning rainbow flags) I decided not to do so here either.

What are you suggesting?

The GOP hates that voting has real consequences, that it's small form of power and that "just anyone" even those who they see as unAmerican and non-persons can vote. It's intolerable to them.
Democratic leadership is also somewhat uncomfortable with widespread suffrage. (Fans of the party will argue with me about this. But, from what I've seen they will cheerlead for more people to vote right up until they have *just enough* to win.)
I want everyone to vote. EVERYONE.
nostr:npub1zdp33shl69xr0uq3x8n5gsjykq9upycwh6nqm02c3f6x0frrn0dq42vqv8 would you say this also apply to voting for candidates which have no real chance at winning, too? like third party candidates in the us or small parties have no chance to get over the 5% hurdle in germany?

Sure. Every election is different. Even just going to vote and not voting for any of the candidates is better than not showing up.
It is possible and easy to recognize the limitations and insufficiency of electoral politics and still use voting as one action among many to facilitate change.
Listen to what black people and queer people are saying.
I roll my eyes when the *only* response people have to injustice is "Vote!1!" I roll my eyes more at the idea that not voting is some big brain 5D chess radical move that lets you operate outside the system.
Use every lever of power you can reach. Every single one.
No one who claims that not voting is a radical has ever given me a reason how it's supposed work.
The only benefit of not voting is that talking about it makes centrist liberals *super* annoyed, and although this is very amusing, it's still not really doing anything.
Worse? Whoever posted this meme *isn't* throwing any bricks at cop cars. (There is a good chance they aren't even leftists but rather right wingers who would find *you* having a criminal record very convenient.)

That's all that we can really do. I don't know why growth and becoming better is so scary for some of these people. Why they cling to the past so desperately.
I ran an "Ant Beauty Contest" over on tumblr and the results are in!
"Think globally, organize locally."
What local issues do you want to see changed?

When looking at photos of bugs that aren't ants it's always funny to spot the ants in the background. Even more funny when the person who took the photo, very proud of the rare bug they found refuses to acknowledge that there is clearly an ant photobombing the special moment. This one is called:
"Tiny Purple Beetle, Chlamisus sp."
... aaaand Crematogaster! They look like friends!

Tumblr has a big problem with group think/hive mind, I guess because there are so many outcast HS students or communities founded by them made up of people who never grew out of that
So if you go against the grain or question whatever seemingly deep realization they just had they'll all come after you, there's really no point in trying to argue with them

This was really just a joke... a play on the meaning of the word "shipping"

He just didn't like the protest and wanted a reason to yell at us.
I'm, perhaps, sensitive to "improper display of the American flag" since I brought a flag as a teen to a protest-- I saw protesting inaction on the AIDS crisis as very patriotic at age 15.
This old white guy yelled at me for holding it wrong. And being a very literal minded child I looked up the flag code and took it to heart. Now I can better understand that it was impossible for me to hold that flag correctly.
There are many bad things about the Prager"U" kids videos that have been approved for use in FL schools... this is the least among the problems, but I still need to point out... those flags are upside down.
How is it that I, a horrible woke leftist would know such a thing?
Isn't an upside-down flag a symbol of distress? A cry for help from the animators maybe?
(the videos are full of inaccuracies and "slavery wasn't that bad" rhetoric-- but I thought they'd be able to get the flags right. )
