Admittedly I was trying to sound smart a little. But also I've come to be familiar with terms like "liquid modernity" through reading and podcast listening, and I'm using them to describe a specific idea.

I'm not sure what sort of reality digital goods have, but they do have *some* reality, as far as I can tell. As such, digital goods can certainly be bought, sold, and exchanged. Hence Bitcoin.

I just don't think Bitcoin is tangible enough to serve as an end. It should be used to obtain things of more concrete value. Which, really, is what currency is. Bitcoin seems to me to be a currency well-suited for a digital economy, but I don't understand the HODLers. They seem to miss the forest for the trees. Your original post got me thinking along those lines.

I was blessed to visit St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Riverside CA a few weeks ago. I recommend visiting if you are ever near by. One of the outer doors features this carving of St. Symeon the Stylite.

He lived most of his life on the top of a pillar in Syria, seeking a life of fasting, prayer and seclusion. As is the case with many Orthodox saints, despite his best efforts, his desire for seclusion was for naught as word of his holiness grew throughout the empire and his pillar became a place of pilgrimage during his lifetime. Paupers and emperors, great saints and great sinners all sought both his prayers and wise counsel. The idea of a political leader seeking the advice of an ascetic who had been standing on a pillar in the middle of the desert for decades in prayer seems so absurd to the modern mind, and yet that is exactly what happened in the fifth century.

The Episcopal church is so liberal it's not even confessionally Christian lol. I don't blame you for fleeing that. If you aren't familiar with the denominational landscape you can easily find yourself in a radical far left congregation.

ACNA is more conservative and traditional. Mild use of iconography without violating the 2nd Commandment. Some of them have a high liturgy, but the Book of Common Prayer allows for a variety of styles. The one I would be going to is somewhere in the middle.

Whether or not Drivechains are a good design (not sure yet myself), the glaring problem is that it's difficult to understand, and that is incompatible with #Bitcoin imo. Bitcoin shouldn't require a PhD to understand or explain
