So, I spent my teen years in the US Virgin Islands. I hated it at first; the folks moved us literally on my 12th birthday, but looking back I think exposure to a totally different culture was a very beneficial, character building experience for me.π
Ken!

Yes, I'm new; but a fairly quick study when I can go "hands on."π
The dream is to get a parallel economy running on bitcoin locally by doing and then teaching any who show up for our bitcoin meetup.π

I've added a reverse ssh tunnel to the phoenixd dockerfile. This allows you to use Phoenixd that lives on a home computer with whatever services can talk to phoenixd.

OK, I've gotta learn how to set up and use this stuff...π€π§
Hoping to bootstrap a local circular bitcoin economy. Any suggestions as to what server setup would be good for supporting the best tools? I'm aware of Umbrel and Start9...
Any recommendations and pointers would be much appreciated.ππ»π
I'm just a hacker at heart... it's the way God wired my brain.π
I made the 2600 whistle out of a short piece of copper pipe, some solder, and a screw to fine-tune the frequency. I made the other tone whistles out of sections of a plastic toy pan-pipe. I can still see them in my mind's eye; they could even be lurking in the attic somewhere?π€π§π
Yesterday, nostr:nprofile1qydhwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnwdaehgunsd3jkyuewvdhk6tcpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qfrwaehxw309anxjmr5v4ezumn0wd68ytnhd9hx2telvakx7cnpds7kzmrvqqsyawyrzrttfmv4cmtx5w2m85702kdct7hv3amfrkhagpdf9cz46mg0d9ydk posted about acquiring a complete set of "2600 Magazine" print edition, and a lifetime subscription... Cool beans!π
Brought back some great memories for meπ€π§π«πππ:
πππWell worth sharing again.πππ
I found a copy of the original article; will have to re-read it for nostalgia sake:
At the time, I didn't have the tech bones to actually build a Blue Box, so I hacked some whistles to the appropriate frequencies in order to fiddle around. Never did succeed at placing an international phone call, but I had a lot of fun and learned a lot about the global phone system.π€π§ππ
Anyone here old enough to remember Cap'n Crunch?π€π§
There was a seminal article in one of the big glossy mags in late 60's / early 70's about DTMF hacking the phone system. I made myself a 2600 Hz whistle, experimented with using it to trigger disconnects. I used to dumpster dive at the local telco for hacker parts.π«ππβοΈ
Good times!π₯ππ
Not what, WHO.ππ«ππ
I used to have a black soul, but Jesus/God washed it, and I feel a lot better now.π It still gets dirty from time to time, but he takes care of it as needed.ππ»ππ―πβ₯πππ
