Right on — nostr is a protocol, not a platform; like the internet. There’s all sorts of content on the internet. But you can choose to use a browser and visit servers that exclude stuff you don’t want to see.

It’s a complete shift in mindset to take control of your own content diet. That’s the mantra of the day for me

When someone new shows up, they may find themselves overwhelmed or very put-off by some of the stuff in the Global feed. With good reason.

A poor onboarding experience is probably why Bluesky users think nostr is full of bigoted extremists (who do exist, but are relatively few, and easily muted).

This is why it’s that much more important for us to dive into Global on a regular basis and help guide new users into following good people, setting up relay configs, etc.

Use wss://welcome.nostr.wine to make it easier to find newcomers. (Disable other global relays to filter the feed to newbies).

On Nostr, we celebrate daily as developers build and enhance the protocol. It's happening, live, right before our very eyes. When developers win, we all win. Clients like amethyst have several options integrated that you can pick from to upload image/media, so from a UX standpoint it works just like any other app where you upload to a central server.
