I have almost all these! Wow! I totally thought I was way more behind...
What's mattermost?
What is Plex?
I use it as a media server but I think you can do a lot more with it๐คท๐ฝ
Basically an old laptop I don't use anymore, I take all my DVDs and physical media and rip them to my hard drive. Then with plex as long as I have the plex app and sign in, I can be on vacation in another country and stream movies or music from my computer at home๐คท๐ฝ
Wowโฆ thatโs cool!
Thanks I had the same question.
Is this it? https://www.plex.tv
Yes!
Thanks, I might check it out. Guessing the server needs a pretty hefty hard drive. Any recommendations? Do you use RAID for handling failures?
I literally took my old laptop and deleted everything from it since I have a new desktop anyway๐คท๐ฝ and I put everything in there.
I'm a millennial. So I'm technically tech savvy. Read: I read the instructions and turn things on and off and it impresses elderly relatives asking for help.
So no I don't think you need to do any of that if you don't have the equipment or know how๐คท๐ฝ
But I imagine you can beef it up and make it more stable. ๐คท๐ฝ
bitwarden, pihole, wireguard, syncthing, kodi
Curious which VPN you prefer?
Mullvad is popular option among bitcoiners
PIA is good, I haven't had any unwelcome visitors in a decade of (ab)use. Mullvad is another good choice. ProtonVPN would be a good choice, but I find their IPs are too readily blocked compared to other providers.
Using all of those but mattermost. What do you use it for? Just keeping your work chats internal? And I'm slowly swapping Plex with Jellyfin.
Smart move on the Jellyfin migration. Takes some getting used to, but it is pretty solid for a open source solution. Bought a lifetime membership to Plex, but was cut off recently due to being flagged for selling subscriptions to Plex server, found Jellyfin, and never looked back. Plex was nice, but they can relax with their own Plex content being forced on you when searching your own library for something you know you have. Be well friend
The World lol
plex = freedom? ๐ค๐ but I think also itโs still the best option.
It lets me stream my media from my owner server to my own devices, I like
but unfortunately itโs not open source and for some stuff you need an account on plex.tv
Jellyfin is a decent open source alternative to Plex... No web browser access, but their is a desktop and mobile application for Jellyfin that both work solid imo. I think the biggest advantage Plex has over Jellyfin, besides the online browser access, is a bit more of a polished UI/UX... otherwise Jellyfin has been a great open source alternative.

What's the advantage of Mattermost over Rocketchat for you?
Also my stack is much more modest, just Signal, Simplex and Skiff. No VPN, no Plex, almost no BTC IS or collab tools outside of work.
Didn't compare them really, btcpayserver uses Mattermost so I copied them ๐
What vpn do u use?
Solid. I use:
Bitcoin /Lightning/Whirlpool
Pest for secure comms: http://pestnet.io
OpenVPN
pine + pgp for email (non-encrypted content discarded unless whitelisted)
Bitcoin
Lightning
Bitbox 2.0
Sparrow (Mixer, Payjoin)
Nunchuk (maintain coins)
Bitwarden (w. Aegis)
VPN
Protonmail
Which VPN would you recommend?
Do you use Graphene OS on Pixel? It's open-source, private and without Google services.
