Offering free NIP-05 verification. NEW: use your NIP-05 for Lightning payments! https://pinecones.lol

Help keep Pinecones an active nip05 service. I've got to do some budgeting after the holidays and a couple birthdays, so Pinecones finds itself in the position of not being renewed. I'd like to keep it active for the handful of people using it. It's better for nostr to have smaller options like this vs everybody using the same handful of services for nip05. Consider zapping towards the $28 domain renewal if interested in helping keep another option up.

Seems that I was mistaken on when pinecones.lol expired. Domain is up until February 9th and then will expire. If you use it for NIP-05 and want to keep it active (or if you just want support keeping the service open for others) consider donating towards the $28 renewal fee.

Pinecones.lol domain expires today. To the 11 verified users, I recommend using zaps.lol

It's $28 dollars to renew but I am tight on funds and have other domains that are important that will need to come first. If I can get $30 total zapped by the end of the night, I'll renew and leave it up for you all.

You can go with a device from Realme or Poco as well, you can get some decent hardware at lower prices vs a device fromGoogle, Samsung, etc.

I wouldn't run stock on those devices but you're able to unlock the bootloaders and install an AOSP based build without Google apps. I picked up a Realme XT new a few years ago with 128gb expandable storage, 8gb ram & a SD712 for about $250usd and this is what I do with it. If your in the US you can also pick up a prepaid US Cellular Motorola device and they are able to be bootloader unlocked out of the box, they're essentially the global variants with a branded boot screen and bloat preinstalled. These options allow you to run AOSP based builds of Android without Google apps. With the Pixel devices mentioned before, you can install GrapheneOS and relock your bootloader while running it for added security. Either option is still better than running Google services.

Once you've got everything set up and set your nostr username and handle, you'll optionally want to verify your account with a NIP-05 provider. I offer a free service at https://pinecones.lol

The Pinephone and Librem certainly leave a lot to be desired when it comes to hardware but I'd consider those 2 more proof of concept devices. Still, the Pinephone is 100% usable as a daily driver as long as you don't expect flagship performance from it. I reolaced Android with it for years and watched it improve greatly. When it comes to software, mobile Linux is perfectly usable. At least when running PHOSH. GTK4 and Libadwaita have made huge improvements, you can find apps that scale to work on mobile screens for most things. There's a handful of SD-845 devices able to run mainline Linux now as well. I wouldn't call it a pipe dream. I will agree with you on one thing though, Ubuntu Mobile was and is garbage. Then again, I wouldn't even use Ubuntu on desktop either.

The easiest method would probably be to just install and use Wallet of Satoshi.

If you use Telegram you could try https://t.me/LightningTipBot

You can also get an address from Alby and connect to Zeus or Bluewallet.

Mobile Linux! Pinephone/Pinephone Pro, Librem5, OnePlus 6/6T, etc. I used a Pinephone running Arch Linux with PHOSH as a daily driver for about 2 years until I dropped it and broke the screen. I'll switch back as soon as I am able to order a replacement screen. We need more people running Linux on phones so we get more devs working on software that works well on smaller screens.

You can use Zeus and BlueWallet to connect to GetAlby addresses or other nodes.

Taking a look at the Android client #nostrmo

Seems like a decent client.

I would love a hardware wallet. Currently I have spare phone in a drawer that I use with a software wallet.

Thanks to nostr:npub108pv4cg5ag52nq082kd5leu9ffrn2gdg6g4xdwatn73y36uzplmq9uyev6 Fedi and Nostr are already playing with each other. The majority of instance admins are not excited about Meta joining Fedi. I am curious what the NDA is hiding tho.
