The RL rule is that everyone is 6 contacts away from everyone else on earth. Hopefully, the organic connections made here will create something similar. What won't be helpful is if we start getting relay imbreeding.
If a person posting on instagram was seeing comments from people on youtube, it would only be half as weird as the nostro experience.
Oh please, they'll probably think absolutely nothing of sending 2 sats along with every comment they make.
At least if our generation does our job right
It would be insane to a mega-followed account to not apply some kind of algorithmic filter on what they see at the relay level anyway. No one can afford to wade through 50+ notes per minute without machine aid.
It's kinda amazing how much easier to usefully allocate attention when it comes with a ⚡
Yeah it's kinda weird. I checked the price earlier; was trying to calculate roughly how many sats on a post would be comparable to the dollar price per view on adsense. First time I didn't even think about whether it was up or down. Refreshing.
If the algorithm is being run by someone else, absolutely. If the algorithm is being run by me, only on my client, merely to control how what I'm seeing is ultimately filtered? Well then I'm thinking I want to do that.
#[0] Any word on snort supporting quick emote posting? Or does it and I just need to check some settings?
Gotta disagree. Friction to posting, if handled right, is EXACTLY ideal. If all public relays only allowed writes that were either from someone with NIP5 verification, or included a zap, then the spam dies from a lack of funding.
That's because they're not people. They're bots.
Always assume that an actor on the internet is a bot, unless they've taken action to prove they are human.
Action like, spending bitcoin to verify their account. There isn't an organization on the planet that can bot-spam for long if each bot costs 5000 sats to exist.
Also, I have no respect for people on nostr that won't zap.
That feature is so underrated. I'm actually kinda stunned it exists.
Would certainly be nice to be able to rate/order our own feeds though. Zaps help with that tremendously, if we can order a feed by zaps sent/received that would be strong signal.
Pretty sure it's short for "Pura Vida." Jack Dorsey is hanging out in Costa Rica, where the phrase is used in reference to a peaceful and happy lifestyle. "Pura Vida" is also attached to one of his relays, further supporting the idea.
So saying PV is the ultra short version of something like "I hope life provides you with continued happiness." At least that's how I'm reading it.
