Coder by day. Libertarian (it seems).

Actually it's not that simple. The amount of gold that comes into existence is a somewhat steady percentage per year. That percentage, although deflacionary is below the rate of devaluation for fiat. So although not a good investment,.it's a reasonable store of value.

She is indeed.

She changed my way of seeing OO and programming in general. I never heard anyone look at it with such clarity.

Someone advertised her name on a job advert, I looked her up and got glued to YouTube for 40 minutes.

I've been doing this for 20 year and she's definitely one of my heroes.

....

To make you smile - My boss today, who I thought finally "got" scrum, decided to introduce a RACI matrix.

It's Monty Python's flying Circus! Over in the "Agile" world.

Especially if you have a certificate!

They truly are. There's only one in London and its the best airport. But of course, only the rich use it after COVID.

This guy sounds like he knows what he is saying. But please backtest his theories. He is selling something.

To be fair, Bob, the biggest problem I find in our industry, at least in my category of web applications and geographically in the UK, is that people don't read.

They don't read. They make things up as they go along. They follow the others. They copy the simplest principles like DRY and "code consistency".

They do not know how to use object oriented programming (and neither do I, especially after listening and reading Sandi Metz).

People in my world keep doing long procedures and reading framework instructions when they absolutely must.

Noone does any testing of any value. Noone understands that testing is live documentation.

Noone has ever read Martin Fowler, much less Michael Feathers.

So.... functional design is a bridge too far for most people.

What do you think?

Net-zero is the trojan horse for digital slavery.

I am scared.

The world seems crumbling right now.

Do you sometimes wonder what would the old Egyptians say if they thought Cairo would look like that in 2023? Its a bit of an eyesore for me. The contrast I mean...

It's perhaps a little worse than that. It's the Trojan Horse by which the banks|gov|media throw all of us into slavery. Have you heard the news from the UK? They can now slam you in jail if you do not comply with their random net-zero policies.

The Nazi had the same in the 30s.

Ideas have people. Not the other way around.

Today I tried to setup a nostr relay. I have tried and failed many times but never thought it was actually that hard.

All I wanted was a piece of code without any third parties which connects via websockets to another relay. That's all. I can do the rest.

I tried python because that's the one I know best, but they all seem so complicated and I can barely read the code.

The thing I don't like about your argument, Odell, is that you make it sound like nostr benefits influencers mainly. And that's not only limiting but also discourages the occasional lurker. I'm one of the last kind and although I had never used twitter much, I feel like nostr is far more than twitter ever was. For example, the fact that I can post whatever and subscribe to whatever I want and potentially keep it all anonymous under multiple accounts... These things matter to me as a lurker, punter, observer, pleb.

This does not exist in the UK (or anywhere else outside the US for that matter) - how much did you pay for it, please?

How heavy? Do you have a full complex set?
