it’s very difficult to acknowledge alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine as poisons
Discussion
what about green tea, as it has caffeine in it?
All about quality, green tea is great.
I’m sensitive to caffeine. Two cups of green tea in the morning and it screws up my sleep that night.
considered cutting out caffeine tbh. seem to have really low energy through most parts of the day, still figuring it out
Sure try it. But I would assume its about the food you eat and when, your sleep patterns, workouts, not the caffeine.
yeah, no idea
constantly tired tbh
It’s fantastic.
Hours and hours in silence. Doing what you need to be doing.
🎚️
When it becomes important enough, you will figure it out
Do you lift weights & play a sport?
nope
Why would your body require and store energy for longer if you dont show any additional necessity for it?
fair 🤔
Proof of Work or become a limp dick zombie.
The human body is meant for work, male & female.
have some mental health stuff still to figure out tbh i feel like
but this is a great point, never thought of it like that
I have to tell you that not every day feels good and rosy… however good or bad it feels… It feels heavens better after workout. Working out, lifting, running for body… It’s what Bitcoin is for your wealth.
I do, and caffeine is definitely not required
It definitely isn’t, its just tasty. Like pussy and mango
My comment had nothing to do with caffeine, but rather blaming energy levels on caffeine or lack thereof.
Most people I see who are trying to figure this out are doing everything but lifting weights & playing a sport.
Doesn't even have to be heavy weights, just something consistent over time.
I see, that makes sense. I do think caffeine can create dependency over time, but I agree that the number one biggest factor is actually just getting outside or in a gym and moving your body.
Caffeine disrupts circadian rythm, so it's valid to "blame caffeine" on low energy levels.
Maybe anemia 🙈🙈🙈
🫂 I check my blood levels regularly. A deficiency can also lead to fatigue. But there can be many reasons
fun fact, just got the results back from the blood work that i got done yesterday 💜
Everything ok?
other than LDL, apparently so 🤷♂️
You’re young to have high cholesterol. Look at your diet more closely. It might be the answer to your fatigue. You might just not be eating right for your specific body.
Did it give you any answers to why you’re fatigued?
tbh, i can send you the data. other than LDL, which was higher than normal, everything was said to be okay
Makes sense. You are young and healthy and survived 24h+ of podcasting 😂
Some additional habits to pick up and you’re gonna be golden brother
i was dissassociating 16hrs of it, will powered my way through it
Yeah but that was toooough
Most people wouldn’t do that! People take heavy drugs to do such things mate. They retarded, you are strong and willed one dehydrated motherfucker 😂
how did it go? 💜
apparently it was “fine”
and that i’m not lactose intolerant, but i probably have irritable bowel syndrome
knee x-ray seemed to be okayish, going to have physiotherapy on thursday.
got prescriptioned to be on diclofenac for the next 7-10 days
i still have the referral letter for a psychologist/psychiatrist, yet to book the time
Buy 5kg kettle bell and use it between note signing sessions. At least once a day. Many youtube tutorials, for different workout routines
Let me save your knees for ya, which my physio couldn't do for me btw...
atgonlinecoaching.com/
Knee ability zero program
Pay for it, buy the equipment you need, especially the slant board and Nordic stick,
Thank me later.
Good anti inflammatory cream. Should help your knee.
If your having gut issues try adding fermented foods like sauerkraut you might need more healthy bacteria in your gut.
good to hear that it wasn’t anything urgent.
physiotherapy will most likely help with your knees. Did help me a lot even tho it was a long process.
yeah. you should so that as soon you see you have time ✨
I do take vitamins too
Starting Strength + climbing
I feel better off caffeine. Previously very careful to not have caffeine after noon. The exception being they use caffeine medicinally to treat spinal fluid leak headaches. Knock on wood I won’t have to worry about that going forward. Side note: both caffeine and alcohol affect your intracranial pressure. That’s why a cup of coffee helps a headache from a hangover.
It's hard for me to give up coffee, but I did it. I drink a cup of matcha at lunchtime. when you give up coffee, it's always extreme at first. But after a few days it gets better and I even feel like I have more energy. But I think you have to try it a least for a month
i think drinking lots of water will help you with get the some of the caffeine out of your system.
self, I only have 1 cup of tea in the morning and then I try to drink water for the rest of the day since water balance your energy level throughout the day.
but I’m not entirely sure how it all works
Green tea has some fluoride in it.
Too much caffeine is bad! Green tea 🍵 is good for you! Antioxidant and increases the metabolism!
Bleh
Is caffeine really poison?
Anything refined is a poison, but chewing the coca leaf, drinking high quality coffee - these things aren't poisons.
(with the exception of course of when you first try any of them)
That is the sign actually
do you see the three of them as equally harmful?
I see alcohol as 100x worse than caffeine and ~5x worse as nicotine
This is why I consume 100x of coffee and 5x of nicotine compared to the amount of alcohol I drink.
Depends on the person nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft. Someone prone to anxiety, depression, ocd - any clinical neuro differentiator - has likely had a clinician tell them (and/or their lived experience affirms) caffeine is nearly equally harmful/poison to the system. I get massive headaches, brain fog, can’t sleep, say things I wouldn’t otherwise, change eating habits - list goes on and on if I’ve had too much caffeine.
Wait, I can do this...

That means nicotine is 20x worse than caffeine!
The harmfulness of alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine can vary depending on several factors, including the quantity consumed, individual susceptibility, and the context in which they are used. It's important to note that comparing these substances directly can be complex due to their different mechanisms of action and effects on the body.
Here's a general overview of the relative harms of these substances:
Alcohol: Heavy and excessive alcohol consumption can lead to a wide range of health issues, including liver damage, addiction, cardiovascular problems, impaired cognition, and accidents. Long-term alcohol misuse is associated with a high risk of chronic diseases and can significantly impact both physical and mental health. Alcohol's impact can be substantial, especially when consumed in large amounts or over extended periods.
Nicotine: Nicotine is highly addictive and is a major component of tobacco products, which are responsible for a significant number of preventable deaths due to various health complications, including lung diseases and cancers. While the direct effects of nicotine might be less immediate compared to alcohol, the addictive nature of nicotine and its association with tobacco products make it a significant public health concern.
Caffeine: Caffeine is a stimulant that, when consumed in moderate amounts, can provide a temporary energy boost and enhance cognitive function for many individuals. However, excessive caffeine consumption can lead to negative effects such as insomnia, increased heart rate, and nervousness. While caffeine does not carry the same long-term health risks as heavy alcohol consumption or nicotine addiction, it can still have negative consequences when consumed in large quantities.
It's important to remember that each individual's response to these substances can vary, and what might be harmful to one person may not be as harmful to another. Additionally, the cultural, social, and legal contexts surrounding these substances can influence their perceived harm and acceptability. Making informed decisions about their use and being aware of their potential risks are essential steps in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. If you have concerns about your use of any of these substances, seeking advice from medical professionals is recommended.
Caffeine is probably the one that invaded our society on the largest scale, it's pretty much overlooked and it has awful side effects.
How so?
Caffeine has negative effects on your sleep cycle. It can lead to the development of anxiety both due to its consumption and because it can cause you to sleep less. Additionally, its consumption can also lead to tachycardia and hypertension. Considering that heart attacks and heart failures are the leading causes of death worldwide, I'd stay away from caffeine.
I see. It’s been said that coffee helped spur the Age of Enlightenment during the 18th century in Paris. If it helped the great thinkers of the time, I don’t see the effects being all negative. In any case it’s best not to be dependent on any substance.
Maybe balance the coffee with alcohol? Irish Coffee?
Historically approved?
Or is that cheating?
But they fill me with such joy 😓
That’s why they fuck with your reward system in the brain! Get rid of ‚em!

Sorry jack caffeine ain't a poison
But a psychoactive stimulant with side effects!
If it's synthetic it could be, but the natural one present in coffee and other stuff ain't a problem, you need really high dosage to get something like that.
And you have extensive material about the benefits it carry, there's not a single health benefit on alcohol or nicotine, putting the 3 together is, in my view, non sense.
There are studies in caffeine and sleep disorder, anxiety disorder, addiction and cardiovascular issues around. So it’s quite subjective!
Ok and there are plenty of them telling that it delays dementia and Alzheimer's, prevents cancer, and much more. If it's a normal intake you won't have a problem, putting it alongside alcohol and nicotine is my issue.
It can be both! Depends on your individual needs / circumstances!
And mostly how much you take for then to be a problem, if it's your normal coffee consumption you'll get the benefits and none of the damages.
There might be people with any healthy caffeine threshold! Is quite individual!
Nowadays, this list can go on. But, yes I agree! And sooner or later it comes to mind! Unfortunately, not to everyone’s
✉️
👌🏻
I wonder if that's because what can be labelled a poison is not binary. Small doses of those things are not poison, but people take them at doses that are detrimental to health.
There ain’t a healthy amount of alcohol at all! None of it is the healthiest!
I didn't mean "healthy", I mean't "not a poison". A drop of Ricin on your tongue would kill you, a drop of beer would not.
One breath of cigarette smoke could give you lungcancer! It’s not probable but possible. Each round of any game makes it more probable to win one of those lotteries! You also can smoke chain and get 111 years old, also not very probable but possible. The most people life in the middle of the normal distribution!
Anything consumed in extremes is dangerous to the the human body.
Water for instance: too much and its bad, too little and its bad.
I for one stay in the middle ☕️
🥃🥃🥃 #cheers 🤙
Stay oxidated 🤙🏻🤙🏻🙃
Talk about a culture shock 😵💫
especially when there appears to be health benefits to nicotine
Hard for me to agree with caffeine. What are the issues?
Alcohol and nicotine are easy to acknowledge. Just look at their effects on human health. Coffeine is more complicated i guess since it supports highly hold western work ethics with it!

Agregaría mateina también que es como la caefina pero del mate 🧉
Indeed, Alcohol is way more deadly than a lot of illegal drugs.
It has a greater harm profile on society than every other drug, by far! Even counting opioids!
They're all substances to be used or misused. They have no soul or character and are not intrinsically evil. But yes by definition they are all poison.
Do you abstain from them all?
Since March I've stopped 2/3. Only caffeine left, though it will be the most challenging imo.
What is interesting about stopping caffeine your wakefulness during the day starts to even out so you experience the same level of energy all day. On caffeine you have a burst of energy then a crash (repeat) all day then generally more tired in the evening. It’s a tough one to kick though and there are some nootropic benefits from caffeine.
They are definitely poisons but y'know what...take the nicotine, take the booze...try and take my coffee though and there's gonna be arguments.
Is this sentence structuring confusing to anyone else?
And sugar.
Once I cut sugar off, my body reacts to sugar like drug. The high and low goes hard when I take it.
Made from plants so it’s fine - everything in moderation 🫂
I agree, everything in moderation.
"All things are poison, and nothing is without poison; the dosage alone makes it so a thing is not a poison."
— Paracelsus, 1538
Dose makes the poison.
People do stupid shit.
Like sending a millionaire 3 pennies worth of Bitcoin for posting their thoughts.
Never been a nicotine fan, but quitting coffee and alcohol is among the best decisions of my life. I actually took a page out of Svetski's book - he's a true pro at recognizing and staying away from all of that.
I acknowledge 2/3 but I am physically addicted to caffeine 🫠
Everything, literally everything can be poisonous or harmful. On the other hand we are entitled to choose our own personal poisons.
Alcohol in moderation is much better than no alcohol. Caffeine wrecks me with it's withdrawals, have to keep consumption light. Nicotine I enjoy so much, can't explain why but know it's evil.
Why? 🩺😊
never consumed alcohol in my life so far
The acknowledgement is the easy part imo. Abstaining is the difficult part for most. Yolo.
Just because they're poisonous doesn't mean they can't be therapeutic.
Coffee drinkers have a much lower incidence of certain diseases like gallbladder disease.
Coffee is also known to have other vascular tissue benefits.
Moderate alcohol drinking is an effective social intoxicant. Not as safe as weed. Or vaping nicotine. But much safer than fentanyl. Or street drugs.
From the standpoint of our biochemistry, all medicines are poisons that can be therapeutic. Depending on how they're used.
For example, antibiotics are strong poisons. That's why they killed germs, and sometimes kill people.
So what I'm saying is that many poisons have a therapeutic benefit. But less is usually more when it comes to a therapeutic dose..🤔🙂
Ya damn skippy ⚡️ 1 bite make smile 2 bite make fat.
who doesn't acknowledge alcohol, nicotine/tar as poison? caffeine however, is it rly poison?
Caffeine messes with your circadian rhythm and sleep. Loss of sleep quality calls for more caffeine to function normally during waking hours
counter.. working out late also messes w your circadian rhythm
working out =/= poison, no?
I'm more in the moderation perspective. External crutches/dependencies are something to be kept to a minimum, rather find things that help you maintain a healthy equilibrium over amplifying something. The energy coffee gives you now is debt that your body will have to repay later.
Speaking from the perspective of do as I say not as I though 😅
Do as I say not as I do*
Not there on the caffeine yet if ever - only the other two
because its easy to nuance that acknowledgement..
Ultimately, we were born with an expiration date. A little poison will speed up the process, but in the scheme of things - not very much. A few years here, a few years there; not much at all.
words 😹
I'm a half caff maximalist. Typical cup of coffee is way too much caffeine. Decrease the dosage.
everything is poison, if the dose is too high
As they say, "one man's poison is another man's..."
Reminder all chemotherapy is straight-up poison.
I have taken 10000’s cups of coffee in my life time and still waggling my happy tail. 🫠
Feeling better than ever!
#GorillaUnit ⚡️🦍⚡️
#CoffeChain
As for the other 2 sustances…yes they can be poisoning.
I might have an explanation for this.
It's even harder for us to accept our own mortality.
Stimulants have been part of human culture since the dawn of time.
The secret lies in the dose.
What about bong water then??
Two of them aren’t.
Rule of thumb: Stick with poisons that people have been consuming for millennia, and avoid poisons of the 20th century. Enjoy your wine, coffee, and cigars.
Another rule of thumb: If you do one or two multi-day water fasts per year, you don't have to worry as much anymore about having the oPtiMaL hEaLThy diEt.
Anything beyond these rules is just pointless overoptimization; too much effort for no or hardly any gain; not a smart way to live life.
That depends on your POV, stage in life, and the amount of exposure you have to them - as with anything we ingest into our bio suits.
Moderation ✨
n weed
Food tops these especially sugar
Especially when they've been there like an old friend to cushion some of lifes harder challenges .
I disagree. Many people see them that way.
The mind will find a way to rationalize the use of your favorite. Just this one time...😬
Sounds like you’ve been conversing with Mormon missionaries regarding the Word of Wisdom…😂
And I’ll add sugar to that list too
😄
Beauty is in the mind of the beholder.
I'm about to chug one of these mixed with tequila while smoking a fat stogie. Am I doing this right?

I don’t know anyone who thinks tobacco or excessive alcohol or caffeine consumption are healthy.
True, not healthy per se but as intrinsic parts of adult living. Celebration? Alcohol 🍾 🥂, meeting up with friends “let’s grab coffee”. Smoking has fallen out of favour but it’s almost as if these vices are the trinity of adulthood.
alcohol is clearly and hard to acknowledge personally. I like wine. I don’t think caffeine is and see no negative impacts when used in moderation, only benefits. Happy to be proven wrong.
Managed to quash alcohol and nicotine, but caffeine?! Not poison 🤣☕🪖✊
In order of least harmful. Caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, sugar. Last two very debatable ranking.
Anything in excess can be harmful. The key is to maintain moderation.
consumption without reverence mutates to toxicity.
“All things are poison and nothing is without poison, only the dose allows something not to be poison.”
Paracelsus (1493-1541)
Their substance influences the body in a negative way and mutates cells slowly. Wheres the difficulty?
I think most people admit it for nicotine, but it’s very hard to get off that shit. I’ve been trying for a year now and everything from patch, gum and even therapy. Nothing works on me, maybe I don’t want it enough lol
What about weed, ganja etc?
So is the Sun - the harbinger of life!
“Toxins” may be a more accurate descriptor no?
Still love my caffeine #coffeechain
Should we? 🤭
Is there actually very good evidence for nicotine being that bad for people? My understanding is that a lot of the damage is done by the delivery mechanisms.
Also, remember the old adage: "The dose makes the poison." There's no need to become a clave of hypochondriacs: we're weird enough already.
I never had a difficult time calling these things poison. The difficult part is not poisoning myself 🥲💯😂🫂
I'm guessing anything addictive goes on that list ? And if not severely damaged, the body gives second chances - lungs regenerate from 3 months to 1 year, liver can repair itself in a month, sugar detox helps with insulin resistance, and
wait a minute. why is caffeine poisonous ?
3 weeks on a healthy diet can change gut biome. 💜
The body has an incredible regenerative ability. That is why when the “experts” said COViD does irreversible damage I just shrug and think “not an expert” 💜
Anything to extreme can be poisonous even exercise
Caffeine is an addictive substance and negative effect to our body. We have to use more to keep same effect’s level when we took it regularly.
In Asia, We don’t drink more coffee as same as western people thus it do not look poisonous problem for our.
And weed.
as an addict who uses coffee as a coping mechanism, i agree with this. that why coffee is so loved among us addicts.
Alcohol, absolutely, beyond all reasonable doubt, is a drug that poisons people, and the illusion is that by drinking small amounts of it you are "OK."
Nicotine is an interesting one - you don't realize it really is a sort of drug until you do something like inhale while smoking a cigar or chew tobacco.
Caffeine... Man, I don't know. Chocolate has caffeine in it... and I just can't think of chocolate as this unnatural, poisonous thing to eat. I also think that while caffeine dependence may be a real and undesirable thing, we are not really at a point where we can consider caffeine as functioning as a drug, and thus I do not think of it as a poison.
The dose makes the poison
I used a nicotine product to protect rose bushes . Its poisonous properties work almost instantly w insects.
Absolutely, alcohol and nicotine can be considered poisons to the body when used excessively it's essential to be aware of their potential harmful effects and make informed choices for a healthier lifestyle
I can’t acknowledge caffeine as a poison - but alcohol and nicotine, definitely.
no comment on thc. I likes
You're right that it can be challenging for some people to acknowledge substances like alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine as poisons, especially because they are commonly used and socially accepted. However, it's important to remember that the term "poison" is often associated with the dose and context in which a substance is used.
Alcohol: While moderate alcohol consumption may not be harmful to most adults, excessive and heavy drinking can lead to a range of health issues, including liver damage, addiction, impaired judgment, and accidents. In high doses, alcohol can indeed act as a poison to the body's systems.
Caffeine: Caffeine is found in coffee, tea, energy drinks, and various other products. While low to moderate caffeine intake can provide a temporary energy boost and even some health benefits, excessive consumption can lead to issues like insomnia, nervousness, jitters, increased heart rate, and dependency. Extremely high doses of caffeine can also be toxic and even fatal.
Nicotine: Nicotine is found in tobacco products such as cigarettes, cigars, and smokeless tobacco. It is a highly addictive substance that can lead to serious health problems, including lung diseases, heart diseases, and cancers. Nicotine poisoning can occur from consuming too much nicotine in a short period, which can result in symptoms like nausea, vomiting, increased heart rate, and in severe cases, seizures.
It's crucial to approach these substances with awareness and moderation. Recognizing their potential risks and understanding the effects they can have on the body and mind is important for making informed decisions about their use. If you're struggling with substance use or addiction, seeking help from healthcare professionals, support groups, or counselors can provide valuable guidance and assistance.
No, the difficult part is quitting - especially if you have past trauma
That crutch is oh so comforting for a night
Like a hooker
“A tool isn’t just a tool. She expresses a previous process.”
I think the classification is in the eye of the observer. If one optimizes for longevity or awareness, those substances are poisonous. If you’re driving a truck with 30 people in the back and you try to stay awake for the last hour, caffeine may be a vital substance.
I embrace the poison. Whenever I offer someone a drink I ask the question "what's your poison? "
Poison is not a very helpful category. Oxygen is poison too. Sugar is not, but it’s killing you.
anything can be poisonous
imo most people realize alcohol and nicotine aren’t good for them…caffeine, not so much
^ tho moderation is a factor
I prefer plant medicines (psychedelics) to toxins/poisons...
When they cause injury, harm, or death they are poison. I did it!
I think most people now do see nicotine as poison. Alcohol is less socially acceptable among younger generations in my area too these days. Agree on the others though.
difficult for who?
& a faithful friend is the medicine of life ✨
I'm not sold on labelling caffeine or nicotine as poisons. Alcohol - yes, for sure. Caffeine and nicotine I see mostly just as stimulants.
Andrew Huberman says nicotine is good for you in small doses. Same goes for caffeine. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/52Ui4hdiAzU https://www.youtube.com/shorts/lExlTexYDas
I see no poison, but everything in moderation.
when I say "alcohol is a shitcoin.", I don't judge the drinking itself.
I only judge the legitimization and glorification of it.
please, just INTEND to free yourself from it.
once you proactively work on your way out of addiction and understand it's mechanisms, you transform all life areas.
nostr:note17sdz6wdzqkgumr62er2wf6d7p58w0urrz9dw60w937jfqrfjjwqsn9u2wg
This is an incorrect stance. It's been half a millennium already since Paracelsus determined that "The dose makes the poison".
How much does Jack weigh? 70 kg? Drink 6 liters of water in a couple of hours, and there's a 50% chance that you die of water intoxication.
nostr:note17sdz6wdzqkgumr62er2wf6d7p58w0urrz9dw60w937jfqrfjjwqsn9u2wg
Tru dat
They’re both poisons and powerful medicines at the same time
That's easy, try acknowledging that vegetables are poison.
I'd add sugar as well, though I see many people talk about 'dose make the poison'
How many people are calculating their amount of sugar, caffeine, nicotine, or alcohol use on a given day? Are they optimizing for minimal inflammation?
The driving factor for the use is pleasure, and usually in a mixed ratio optimized for taste. Studies talked about in a book that I think is called 'Salt, Sugar, Fat', they inform us on a human tendency to not feel satisfied when the right ratios are present (e.g. chocolate bars, candy, potato chips, fast food, etc.)
I have alcohol and caffeine from time to time but I drink whiskey sodas and black coffee. Its not just for utilitarian purposes, my tolerance for sugary food and drink has waned from being on a low/no carb way of eating for quite some time.
Now agreeing that 'the dose make the poison' its also important to have a multivariable analysis of the situation. What is the historical data on these drugs and their user base? How long have they been in use? What is the cultural environment around their usage?
Believing the argument being made is a form of hormesis on a dietary level is helpful, lifestyle hormesis is great, but dietary hormesis may not be the best route to go in the long run.
The likelihood for someone to take an extremely long ice baths or sauna sessions, and keep on doing it for a sustainable time period, is low. I'd never tell someone to not lift weights if they've never picked up a thing in their life. I'd be comfortable to say, "Hey, if you haven't had [name the poison], best not to make regular use of it if you want to live an optimally healthy life."
There may be benefits to having caffeine here and there and the same goes for alcohol or nicotine, but the act is futile without acknowledging that prolonged use is detrimental to overall health.
Alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and sugar are not just poisons due to their inflammation and other health impact factors, they may be the most detrimental due to their acceptability and slow burn destruction of the human body over a lifetime.
Monks in the past were able to live off beer because it was safe to drink compared to the water.
tobacco was introduced to humanity as a way to pray. moderation is key.
with alcohol a little is medicine, a lot is poison. fruit alcohol made with love makes incredible tinctures.
even caffeine had medicinal properties.
if you want to look at poisons go to western medicine. there are plenty there. https://fractalenlightenment.com/41647/culture/powerful-prayer-make-smoking-spiritual-practice
mcdonalds is poison, there is nothing medicinal about that shit.
addiction is the main issue and you can get addicted to anything, exercise, social media, sugar, food, gambling etc.
moderation is key. except for mcdonalds, avoid that shit like it is the plague.
vapes are poison. and their lithium batteries are toxic. you should not put them in rubbish bins. a vape caused a rubbish truck to catch fire in my country. whoever invented them is an imbecile, at least cigarettes are child proof, you have to light them, a toddler can pick up a vape and have a puff and the candy flavours are totally designed to target children. over 50% of my sons intermediate vapes (11-13 year olds). they are not the answer to quitting smoking.
Caffeine is an adictive and enhancing drug, but for sure not a poison
Black coffee tastes good. And you can't really consume it a lot. Mixing those substances with other ingredients is probably the real poison.
A delicious one

We know from the Bible, Noah was a Wine-O, and yet he lived through 800 some years...
Well, I can't enjoy political debates without alcohol, so IDK what to tell ya.
Dosage is what makes it medicine of the poison
Alcohol is easy for me to acknowledge that way. Nicotine and caffeine less so…
Don't forget sugar
So with social media.
All things in moderation.
Even harder is acknowledging that addiction is a state of mind and anything outside of what we have on the inside naturally can feed it if we let it.
Everything has a toxicity level. Even water.
Tell that to my grandmother, she's almost 90 and smokes every day since her 20s. She's MD.:)
Our relation with poisons holds many paradoxes. Is the response of our body that holds the key for developments to take place. The make it or brake it kind of scenario. The symbol for medicine holds much wisdom. From the dna, to the poison that enhances awareness to the ego mind emerging out of the body therefore taking responsibility over one’s own healing. See amanita. That is poison. Spices, are poisons. But i believe we can program our bodies to immunity. The real issue is addiction. Which is emotional hunger, all these “orphans” raised by the system, reaching out to grab and hold something in their hand in order to stand in self. We are emotionally crippled attached to things in the outside world. Our greatest addiction is this gadget, this pandora s box, keeping us entertained and distracted. The only real poisons are toxic(negative and stuck) emotions. Ours and others. That s the big question. How can we transcend that as a mass? When the profit based system exploits weaknesses?
Why caffeine?
I got rid of nicotine addiction almost a decade ago. I still occasionally have a few drinks with a good company and a cup of coffee every morning. I aknowledge fully the addiction of these poisons, though still struggle.
