Block applications are good.

Strike is good. Good UX and branded UI.

I’ve enjoyed Foundation Devices’ attention to their Envoy App and Passport hardware as well as the hardware UI. Looking forward to the Passport Prime release.

Blockstream does well also.

River does well. UI feels good.

The reason you want your apps to look great is because people subconsciously judge it and decide whether it’s worth investing time into.

The more time a user is expected to invest into an app as a tool, the more professional and polished it needs to be.

And if you have anything to do with money handling, viewing or balance retrieval, then it better be top notch or people won’t invest any time into it.

It’s funny how with vibe coding nobody cares about anyone’s apps anymore.

Before you had to put in the effort - and people valued effort to give an app some attention.

But now you can make a crappy but working version of whatever in a few minutes. Low effort - low interest from people.

Even if the vibed app is more interesting and has neat features, people still don’t care because less effort went into creating it and it’s not as scarce anymore.

Scarce availability- people pay attention

Abundance - no one cares.

Based on this it might be safe to conclude that we’re not likely to see more people on nostr just from more vibe coding.

We can’t forget that the people we think we’d attract here are vibing their own apps, and burning out on their own AI playground.

So what does this all lead to?

I imagine down the road our AI tools will be so powerful but abstracted that you’ll just connect wherever and whenever without even needing to create anything. It’ll just be on demand via whatever medium you choose. Question is: how far away is this? And what happens in between now and then?

My initial impression is that the community pushes it. Maybe I'm not following the right people or something, but having had to learn about nostr, I've had to watch videos and tutorials to learn how to start using it. I guess the lightning thing is pretty strongly tied into this nostr thing, because it keeps popping up. I've had to learn about lightning wallets, and zaps, and sats, and apparently it relates to bitcoin.. all these things I've never needed to know about before. All I want to do is post my content and find content that I like, and I'm still unsure how to do that.. I'm instead being indoctrinated into some sort of bitcoin thing where transactions take center stage.. I'm seeing many posts about bitcoin on the feeds.. or relays or whatever they are. It's not a great way to be introduced to a platform that is suppose to rival or replace twitter or other social media, in my opinion.. You need better on-ramps to this, that remove all the esoteric crypto jargon, but primarily, I need to be able to get to the actual content I want to see, otherwise I just get stuck talking to you guys :)

We need a "Nostr Report" thing but with less information and tailored to people on the outside, in email format, to make them want to come here.
