I'm not technically experienced enough to be exclusively FOSS though I'm very in favour of it. Getting there, but by bit.
I like Phoenix, they've built an easy to use experience that removes a lot of the complexity that can put new comers off. Obviously it comes with trade offs but without the technical experience it's the way it is at the moment that people will experimentbwith various alternatives to get about their day.
This is how it appears on my Amethyst screen;

Interesting reactions to the new fee structure from phoenix wallet.
So they no longer take a % on loading the channel, but charge a higher fee per tx.
It's a fair way to experiment with pricing.
I think it might seem a bit much to people who are sending small zaps, I didn't mind the 1 sat per tx fee, and I didn't mind paying the upfront loading fee.
Mathematically I have no idea how much difference it'd make between the two methods (I'm sure they crunched the numbers) but psychologically it might sting people a bit if they're sending 10 sat zaps and are paying a 40% charge to do so.
Personally I'm quite enjoying nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 wallet now with the nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfmextension - it was easier to set up than it looked following the instructions ๐
I'm going to continue to make use of phoenix because I like it, but I'll be using it less.
Rendering issue in amethyst where Alby are clearly tagged in the post but the text renders wrong and the link isn't readable.

Just went to connect my nostr:npub1rg3adrxmz357cy540xplsz89v232l64wz7utp640zv0qhp98339qt2d3r2 account to my nostr account (currently signed in via phoenix wallet and I got an error saying the nostr accbalready exists - I think I may have tried to sign in via #nostr once - is there any chance I can merge them or clear the #nostr one so I can connect the one account to both IDs?
Yeah, just checked and I've sent a couple of small donations from that account too. A merge option could be handy, if it's possible.

Thanks for the answer, there's a whole new little rabbit hole to get lost in now
Cheers, I wouldn't have had a clue, I'm currently using PyCharm which appears to fit my needs fairly well
I'm only just picking up Python again after learning a couple of years ago (after not touching programming since the old c64 days), so forgive me if this answer is obvious;
Is it (relatively, depending on experience) trivial enough to build a python based scraper that could read the contents of a note and make use of that data?
Just thinking along the lines of GitHub type use cases where code can be called from a simple note and used by a page or an app?
It's a beautiful morning and I'm lucky to be where I am. Sitting on deck, #coffee in hand, sun on my face, tunes on the stereo.
The trouble is ASICs only have a limited shelf life, if manafacturing goes down we have a very limited window. If/when China invades Taiwan the problems will be magnified hugely.
I hope so, though it's an extremely complex industry and not the easiest to transport or replicate
I'm hoping you're right - we still have time, but not much
That's be handy - I've had a an error come up a few times, mostly when trying to zap people with geyser links it appears
I suppose. Still, it'd sting a bit to see it right in front of your face like that
Okay, seeing the way this is integrated in to a note, I'm genuinely intrigued.
