Talked with my brother nostr:npub1ajv7m32k0cpgzha32qszsh304qusjvwwmavus0ttktzldms4xzusuftppj at least 100 times about this, lol.

The major difference in cost is entirely with whether you get the heat from electricity or something much cheaper like gas. But dryers are *always* electrical. Which means miners are the perfect match. The one drawback is upfront cost versus the amount of time they will be idle.

The best value would likely be in a laundromat or something similar where they will have a higher time in operation.

(Also would need one of the pools that pay out per hash, rather than per block found)

I'd add that the figures may be accurate today, but tomorrow they'll be different - the fiat value valuation of the sats earned, the electricity cost (okay, tomorrow is a bit dramatic but it will change), and the amount of sats you get, which will definitely reduce over time - that being said, it helps decentralise the mining, is more energy efficient in that you're getting more out of the energy you're using and kyc free sats could bag a premium in exchange for whatever.

Sounds like you've got an awesome plan ready for the festivities - tomorrow I'll be fitting a new outboard bracket and trying to get some of the damp woodwork dried out ready to be waxed...not sure that's going to work though, summer was so bad the boat never really dried through in the first place ๐Ÿ˜žโ›ˆ๏ธ

It's gonna be lovely - I've worked bloody hard recently ๐Ÿ˜„

Not doing the fiat mine till Friday now, gonna spend a couple of days out on the boat, doing maintenance and resting...it's gonna be blissful...cold, but blissful ๐Ÿ˜†๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ๐ŸŒŠโ›ต

Nice little drop, 49 hours till my slave tokens are distributed, praying for another 2 or 3k drop off between now and then ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿค™

GM #nostr, this is the one day of the week I have to get up by 6am and it's still doing me in ๐Ÿ˜†๐ŸŒ„โ˜•

Hope you all have a good easy start to the day ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘

Is there someone else I should ask? I don't know much about the topic, and neither do most of my listeners I'd imagine, so a survey and actionable advice for plebs would be most helpful.

This would be so useful - I was looking at this a little while ago and it seems like the largest working example is in New York - I'd love to see off the shelf methods for establishing a load of local mesh networks that could be easily interlinked

Everywhere is declaring, still, if I was Argentinian right now I'd be watching the old guard like a hawk...
