I’m just now reading up on FPPS and it does not sound like the Braiins reward system since you only get your share of rewards when a block is actually discovered… are you referring to this post where someone is suggesting they are moving towards FPPS or am I missing something?

Regardless I need to read up more on TIDES. Thanks!
This comment was also an interesting read that turns into a bit of a rant 😂

Just convinced someone to use nostr:npub1qtvl2em0llpnnllffhat8zltugwwz97x79gfmxfz4qk52n6zpk3qq87dze and helped them set it up (took 5 minutes) and in that discussion, someone else decided to buy an ASIC specifically because of Ocean.
Yeah this pool is gonna change things.

What makes ocean special compared to say Braiins pool? Just the direct payouts?
Running this Bad Boy for a week now. Thanks to Mining Wholesale! 🫡

Sorry for your loss, Jack. Sending love your way
Glad it helps! Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Might not know the answer, but maybe can point you in the right direction
So you want to build an S9 space heater for your last winter before the halving? Here is what I found while trying to optimize for cost and silence. I don’t think much of this is original, but generally like to share so we don’t all have to repeat the same experiments. Total build cost of about $225 that hashes about 9 TH/s at less than 40 dB and can be used at a slight hum in a bedroom. nostr:note10kwqc92xdv0ddypjez4jhqffssgk6c42nvgjxxz6anhdz0j8dkvsk99av2
I have the miner rotated 90 degrees from how I normally run it above. Hopefully I’m not doing something incredibly dumb here
You could try upping the target temp (mine is at 94 C) to see if the fans have to work less, but I bet this is primarily a difference in fan size 140 vs 120 and noctua vs stock for the db level.
I probably should keep it off the carpet honestly, but I have found if you stack the miner with the PSU on the bottom and add some rubber padding the ground will barely get warm from contact during normal operation.
I am super excited to see what you get with stock! I am using the NIOSH app for sound measurement though I’m sure our comparisons won’t be exact since the mics aren’t calibrated.
I did also replace the psu fan with a noctua. Doesn’t impact this discussion but makes a big difference in sound. Right now I’m about 6 ft from it running at 700 and my iPhone is reading at around 37 db. I don’t know how accurate these apps are, but it is quiet enough that my wife is able to sleep which is all that matters.
Also, it doesn’t seem like a huge difference, but here is the Braiins dashboard for the bungee vs the 3D printed adapter. It’s only a 200-300 rpm difference, but any increase over 1200 becomes VERY noticeable in a bedroom. The sound profile also seemed a bit harsher with the adapters - not sure what caused this.

Nothing fancy! You can see the fan is just barely larger than the opening, but that doesn’t seem to matter. I think keeping the airflow less restricted might be part of what helps the noise. Also possible the adapters cause more vibration if the airflow of the two fans are at all out of sync but they are both being forced through the same opening. Am still a bit shocked at the comparisons
Pro-tip to those of you running S9 space heaters. Ditch the 3D printed adapters and just attach the 140 mm fans with a 36 inch bungee cord. Take the faceplates off for maximum airflow. I’ve tried a bunch of configurations with these noctuas and this is the most quiet, cheapest, and easiest to remove for cleaning! Detailed write up coming soon hopefully. nostr:note1hz5fynzf795rl3yftw0x8e8zkq7wqxyk86mx2y7kmtry6t0fd86s3hvk6h
Transitioned my s9 space heater from zip ties to plastic 140 mm fan adapters. Got louder 🤦♂️
Thanks for sharing! Are you using the AC Infinity S6 or another one? I struggled to justify the cost of the S6 over a standard computer fan. I was curious if anyone had tried the P12s! Opted for the noctua only because of the higher 3000 RPM model though I don’t often run them that high
Thanks! Wood fireplace as a backup. Lacking hot water will be the hardest part. Hopefully they can get it fixed quickly
Major natural gas pipeline broke in my region. Local run on space heaters in progress.
S9 going brrrr until further notice
