Heard great things about keepass as well. Doesn’t having the 2FA as part of the password manager put you at risk though, with a single point of failure if the master key is ever compromised?

Is it cloud backup on their server? Or like a physical backup/microSD/etc?

I've seen people talking about Signal a lot lately and the one reason I'm a little hesitant to put all my eggs into the Signal basket is that I'm worried Signal is going to enshittify like all the other centralized platforms have. I trust Signal's security and their apps seem decent, but moving from Telegram to Signal only to have Signal eventually go bad as well concerns me.

It's why I'm using Matrix as my main messenger right now. I like federation. I'm also kinda waiting to see how everything shakes out. :meowshrug: Matrix has some issues and notable security drawbacks, but the most appealing thing to me is that it's decentralized and not at the whims of potential vulture capitalists down the road. The Signal Foundation seems awesome and is well-run, but, being centralized, that *can* change. Plus, on Matrix, I can bridge everything to it and treat it as a modern day Pidgin/Trillian. :blobfox3cevil:

That said, if you're on Telegram and Matrix seems a little complicated, *try out Signal*. It's much better that Telegram and much more secure (and isn't run by fuckin Nazis).

I guess if it is collected, it could be disclosed. As with many other services of course.

I assumed the same with relays, and hosting servers as well. Almost the whole internet can collect data about you.

Are VPNs are better over Tor, because more people use the same VPN server/IP therefore who connects IP with user data have too many options to connect? But ad you said, VPN providers can remove that ambiguity definitely.

I guess VPN over Tor could give us the benefit of VPN and benefit of VPN provider knows less. What do you think? Of course the more indirection you have, the slower it will be. Alternative cost.

Is the data still sent to firebase if the user turns of notifications?

Have you tried both Bitwarden and Proton Pass? How does Proton Pass' free plan compares to Bitwarden? What's your thoughts on their mobile client?

Powerlord war going on with Monero, that is slowing the entire Tor network.

Here’s my understanding:

--LocalMonero closed

--Haveno was supposed to be a more decentralized version, that’s a peer-to-peer marketplace

--Multiple Haveno networks that DON’T cross-communicate are now competing for traffic, over who will be the dominate controlling market in what was supposed to be a decentralized thing.

--There’s so much traffic on Tor now over this, that the entire Tor network is lagged out

I need to try Cryptpad, for sure, but I have definitely found NextCloud to work well. Self-hosting it and using LibreOffice and Collabora to edit documents. I also have my Joplin notes backed up, encrypted, to my NextCloud.

Not too bad .. there were period-dressed people to facilitate an authentic experience, a little presentation on the life of Jane Austen, lots of facts about her work and her life, and a chance to dress in a period costume and have a picture taken with a waxwork of Mr Darcy .. there was a little shop too .. on a scale of 1 to 10, a solid 7 👍🏼
