Right now, #nostr feels most similar to Twitter, but there’s the potential to be the backbone of all social media.
It’d be awesome at some point to tell family they don’t need FB anymore because there’s a better option with encrypted privacy for family groups already built in.
I know we’ve got DMs but trying to think bigger than that with group management etc.
What if nostr had private groups?
Similar to private profiles or FB groups that could be private (or public if desired).
Could be done with a private relay, but for the masses, it would be awesome to be able to ditch FB because there’s the option to share just with encrypted groups, family circles etc. on Nostr.

A beautiful future awaits because of hard work made today.
(best part is, the future is already here)

🚀 Announcing StartOS v0.3.4.2, the Server Lite, and the all new 2023 Server One!
📣 StartOS v0.3.4.2 introduces PWA support, which means your private StartOS website(s) can now be installed directly onto your mobile devices. When used in this way, initial launch times are faster and the browser context disappears, creating a native app experience!
📣 v0.3.4.2 significantly expands hardware possibilities for free DIY. StartOS can now be installed on Aarch64 (ARM) computers and virtual machines, as well as many laptops, desktops, and mini-PCs that require proprietary drivers for hardware modules.
📣 Introducing the Server Lite, a Raspberry Pi-based device that runs entirely off the microSD card, eliminating common power delivery issues and lowering cost.
At just $199, the Lite is a low-cost, reliable server that can easily be upgraded later.

📣 Start9 has partnered with the @CryptoCloaks to offer exactly 100 of these limited-edition cases for the Server Lite!

📣 Introducing the 2023 Server One. This device blows the Raspberry Pi out of the water. It has an 11th gen Intel processor, 16GB RAM, and an NVMe SSD up to 4TB. The best part, it costs about the same as the old, Pi-based Server One, starting at only $499!

📣 Our flagship product, the Server Pro, now has a reduced price of $1,546.
The Pro offers unmatched privacy and security guarantees with an open software stack all the way down to firmware, including the neutralization of Intel's Management Engine.

📣 The above prices are available on our Bitcoin Store.
Awesomesauce!
Burned a CD today. Takes me back to old days. 💿

New Bitcoin T-Shirt to celebrate 🍕 day.
Yes it’s interesting how the game theory will play out. Will we gravitate to clients that filter out the spam the best, or use free, but by-invitation-only relays, or just not care about it that much and keep nostr wild (at perhaps the expense of greater adoption).
#LittleHODLer would like to celebrate #Bitcoin Pizza Day with you this year. He’ll even bring his own food 🍕🥹

Now that’s just adorable.
In a recent interview, #[0] mentioned nostr as great, but that it doesn’t solve the bot problem (think unlimited impersonation bots spamming the network).
He’s talked about it before, but an orange check that involves proof of work.
Paid relays are a step in that direction, but will we end up centralizing around just a few paid relays?
I’m not suggestion an orange check, just wondering what others thoughts are as the protocol grows and gains more traction.
Fully packed room to see Nostr vs Everything with nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s and nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft

If I remember right, umbrel had the same issue, but as long as you used the recommended hardware and the official power cable, it works fine. I followed the Start9 diy guide, and it works great. Using that now in place of the umbrel. Will maybe upgrade to the more powerful hardware in the future.
