Not sure if muun wallet works with nostr zaps yet. I get an error when trying to zap your ln address.
If I remember, IRC didn't relay between servers but between clients. You had to join different servers to see different chat rooms, similar to discord today...
And of course you couldn't follow users etc...
It's simply a lightening network tip built into nostr protocol. If you put a lightning address in your profile, people can send you satoshis if they like your content etc...
Zapping for me is always 1000 sats. Is there a way to change that or is it a client specific thing?

I don't think you can replicate all text based clients. Apps like discord use websockets for real time feed back. Using relays is fast but not real and not the same experience as a "chat" app.
Let me sum up for you: "I've made billions as an insider of banking's monopoly on fiat money and would hate to lose that privilege to real competition. Also, I'm old and grumpy and hate new things."
