Just „mined“ 😉 my first raspberry blossom 🌸
That’s the great thing about nostr. It is what people are doing with it, so it can be anything. News, memes, philosophy….
I see it a bit critical to say sth is a fact until someone proofs it’s not. That would mean the definition of a fact is just the best assumption we have.
But I guess most people understand a fact as something that is 100% true.
So this could cause a lot of misunderstanding.
Sure this is just a discussion about naming/definition. Anyhow I am avoiding the word fact in general.
I would say we can‘t find THE truth (e.g. we could still live in a simulation) but we can find facts according to specific assumptions.
And some assumptions are so deep connected to our society that we don‘t even mention these assumptions.
That’s why in sience it is common to use sayings like „according to einsteins theory of relativitiy“
I could argue: 2+2=4 is only an anlogy that works in our macroscopic observable world. Numbers are just an invention of humans to describe what say are observing. But in a quantum world where everything is uncertain (to our minds) we actually don’t know if terms like this make really sense.
The problem is, there is no way to proof that 2+2=4. But the fact we haven’t found a way to proof it wrong makes it a very likely assumption.
Actually in the very basis it’s „not even wrong“
You need to know there is a big variety depending on outside temperature (run time).
I had a Max of 170 and Min of 36 Sats this week.
Well that doesn’t really matter for my usecase I only turn on the miner, if I need the heating energy.
Anyhow last week I had a daily average of 98 Sats what doesn’t sound much, but at least it‘s more than the zaps I get for my content 😜
So far I used my s9 with a PWM based temperature control. i transferred it to on/off only and it worked. Anyhow There is almost no hysteresis using this controller, so the miner is often turning on and off for a very short time.
I used it with 800w and 350W.
Next week I try bang-bang control with a big hysteresis (800W)

I think we will have devices with preinstalled nodes (routers, laptops, phones)
Well that’s what I try to find out.
It surely is hard with a s9.
But I need the heating power anyhow so I have at least a bit of cashback. But yes a simple frost protector would have been cheaper.
I will share all my data and calculations for sure.
Ah I see, yeah that’s not really practical
I was thinking about cladding my miner with wood sth someday.
But I found some leftover from some oak box beams yesterday and they fit almost very well. So guess I will build sth in the next few weeks.
What do you think?

May I ask you how you are controlling power consumption at your s9?
I have done it manual via the web interface so far.
Might save me some research time. :)
Yes I can confirm W/THs are pretty much the same for me.
I haven‘t tried to dynamically control my s9.
And even braiins pool supports lightning payouts (but I will also try oceans some day)
Ok, thanks. So it probably not the way to go, anyhow I will give it a try.
I can‘t run a s9 profitable for sure. This is more experimental for me. I wanna collect data and with it I can calculate break-even-points. That’s what I try to achieve.
Last week my S9 was set up to run in default performance mode. This week I will try min mode (about 300W) only.
I am collecting data of runtime, energy consumption (miner and light), mining rewards, hashrate, temperature (miner and greenhouse, outdoor), humidity, sunlight and used excess energy.

Today I improved the insulation of my #greenhouse using a compress band.
Currently my greenhouse is in #winter mode. So I keep the temperature above 41°F (5°C).
And if there is #solar energy left I use it to heat up the greenhouse.
But Prio has my battery.
Now I want to implement a data collector if the #miner is running with excess current.
This is important otherwise my energy meter will show wrong data.
After testing my #miner about 20 days ago I have installed some very cheap fan adaptors to install (a big silent) #noctua #fan. There are big gaps between the Adoptor and the miner housing. I just used electrical tape to „seal“ it.
And the result is good for my purposes

Sure the last sats are mined in 2140 but I guess that’s what the author here tries to say. The last full Bitcoin takes (about) 40 years to mine
Nope it will be mined in the years 2105-2140 (not sure if I am 100% accurate)
This week I just let the miner running to keep temperatures for a minimum and save the #statistics.
I want to find the best way how to run the miner. So far it only starts when it is below a specific temperature (with a day/night mode)
Meanwhile I do a bit of programming to start up the miner when I have #solar #energy left. And to have statistics how much solar energy is used for the miner.
Anyhow in the winter days almost everything is required to heat the house so it won’t be much anyhow.
