Just a pleb on a never ending journey of education and discovery. I love to tinker and try new things. The ocean waves are my second home, this tragically means I keep losing my sats in boating accidents... 🌊🛥🤷🏻‍♂️ GNULinux/FOSS/FOSH enthusiast, BTC maxi, XMR curious, Nostr Maxi.

I get the sentiment, but it's not strictly true. I would argue that the French empire had no conscience and yet the non violent techniques employed by the Sufi Saint Ahmadu Bamba and his followers led to the liberation of the city of Touba in Senegal which is still a semi-autonomous city state and eventually the whole country from the French (though they still control the currency, a problem for BTC to fix 😏)

Worship is deeply engrained in the human psyche, studies have started to explore this idea (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19471985/), it is almost hardwired into our way of being. I think history and anthropology shows this again and again.

So be very careful of what you elevate to the highest station. Do not erect a false idol. And better to remain agnostic than atheist (I don't have enough faith to be an atheist 😂).

For most people these days it seems to be themselves, Money or sex. But regardless of whether you think we created God or God created us. I argue that from a logical point of view, given that we are hardwired for worship, you better put some unfallible, benevolent being on your throne or get rekt.

Goodnight good people of Nostr

A very wholesome post! My daughter also dressed as Wednesday this year 🎃😁💀

As far as I understand, it's circumstantial. If you're using weed to suppress discomfort or to numb feelings then you're more likely to find it addictive/have withdrawals as you are using it as a cope. Though with weed the withdrawals are usually psychological (as opposed to physical withdrawals from many harder drugs).

If your life is otherwise generally pretty good and you just enhance those feelings with weed then it is unlikely that you have any addictive traits toward it. It's a question of "what is the root cause of addiction" generally despair, loneliness or perceived hopelessness (to grossly oversimplify the topic).

Matthew Kratter, you are my favourite toxic maxi 😂 I really respect how you turned your platform around, keep up the good work!

I have a similar concern... look up Albert Pike...

Hello Nostr,

I've been lurking in the shadows for a few weeks and decided it was about time for my first post. So here's a view from the office for you.
