Many of our fears around kids and “addiction” require a total reframing of the way we seek and engage with pleasure.

Just like using drugs to mask a problem, using social media as a way to garner self-esteem, or to compare and contrast your self-worth to others is NOT HEALTHY.

I’d love to see this discussion continue. We put way too much outrage towards what the kids are doing, and not enough effective empowerment and education about the future tech they will have in their hands.

It’s the use-case, not the model. I find that my kids are empowered by the ability to communicate with their friends on their own.

However, I’ve given them all the #dataprivacy speech, and have gotten them to use a nostr:npub1n03pvydrg9pxay2xy479g9u7ytgh3wmagyrwy37a70js0ductf4sudh0ky group and the stories feature there for sharing.

We need sociability, and tech provides that. We don’t need the algorithms, central control, and manipulation that “social media” provides. (Though I would start to make distinctions between “being Social ON media” or specific centralized “social media.

I wonder if Apple will relinquish the keys for ADP iCloud accounts. The global trove of data that is iCloud is staggering.

This is all I want our technology to do. Mesh P2P networks. Whatever you need to do this, your effort to make it happen will not go unnoticed.

I feel ya, on the old stoner doom days. It embodies a certain angst and fury that is necessary to get out, but that I don’t feel as strongly these days, and that’s a good thing! But what I like about YOB, is it brings it home, and the lyrics are beautiful and heartfelt, and not just destruction.

Just a masterpiece of an album. Power, emotion, pain, peace, and resolution. Just…mwah🤌🏼. I used to have giant speakers in a warehouse, and this on vinyl. Nothing compares to that.
