I got my mom to put 10% of her IRA in Bitcoin. I didn’t think she’d have enough $$ to make it through retirement and thus it would be on my to support her. That made her portfolio a subset of my portfolio. So some had to be allocated to BTC. Luckily we have a good relationship and she read the Bitcoin Standard, Bitcoin is Venice, and trusted my advice. If she hadn’t done this, I’d be feeling the same as this guy.
I think all of these things can be true for indefinite but not infinite periods of time. When they started borrowing at 0% in their latest convert - at least 10,000 pairs of eyes had to open. “How do i get some of that free money?” Over the next several quarters you would expect the number of vehicles to grow to match the demand. Classic arbitrage with some fiat ZIRP gas thrown on top. 6 months seems like a long time, but it’s nothing. I might be wrong, but expect a bunch of copycats that rhyme with this even if they don’t repeat it. That should shrink the premium.

Game theory-wise, why would china disclose this? Part of the value (a lot of the value) is based on scarcity. Making people think it’s more scarce than it really is should be attractive?
