There is no specific reason or advantage to use my relay. As far as current use cases in the wild the only reasons to use a particular relay are for geographically near you for low latency and/or finding a relay that has more capacity, lower utilization etc.
Relays are essentially the servers of Nostr. Anyone with the technical know how can run a relay and I think there is even a one-click install for one of the more popular Nostr server implementations.
The one I chose that I linked in my note above is not as fully featured and a little more esoteric but I like Clojure and I'm just running it for fun.
My future farm venture has a domain, stubbed out website. Starting to put together a poultry order form and think more deeply through service offering and logistics.
Going to be time to start selling and advertising soon.
In the meantime I'm searching for pasture for lease.

Sometimes I carry a Leatherman Wave instead of the modified Kershaw shown here.

My relay is available for use. I'm experimenting so no promises about future availability. I'm considering operating a paid and a free relay. This relay will remain free as long as I operate it even if I choose to host a paid relay.

Relay is running software by atdixon written in Clojure on a 2CPU 4GBRAM VM from Linode (now Akamai) in Texas.

Going to continue work on my business plan tonight to start a small pastured poultry business with broader hopes of becoming a robust regenerative farm enterprise.
Planning to start out with 2 Suscovich-style chicken tractors. I have rough numbers together for costs and market pricing but need to start planning execution on finding customers, other marketing, branding etc.
What are you all up to tonight nostrfam?

Sounds just like when I was a kid and mom or dad has had absolutely enough of my shit.
Be strong Kanaka!
Relatively speaking, that wall is solid af.
Yep! Just had sideways hail in Ohio.
I just finished setting up a Nostr relay. Will use personally for a while before I publicize.

The Midwest is terribly unkind to vehicles. This was a perfectly functional fuel pump on a GM pickup truck however it developed a pinhole fuel leak due to corrosion where the pressure (output) side of the fuel line connects....it's almost like these were engineered to collect moisture and road salt. Anyhow, pump was replaced and generously coated with a rust inhibitor product called "fluid film" that I have used for years especially on equipment like snow plows. Just be aware it does not fully dry so if you ever have to come in contact with it, you will be wearing it. But it does what it's supposed to..

Good luck doing it without tax and penalty consequences. Just look at the hoops required to back an IRA/401k with gold, it's intense; purity standards, insurance, detailed book keeping.
I'm interested in anything you find!
Also trying to learn more about how I could apply a swale properly. I need to go watch some swale videos again to brush up on my understanding.
There is a little of what I think is considered terracing so that helps but I think more can be done. I definitely see the soil wash out on really heavy rain events.
My property is a 3/4 acre wedge, like a triangle if you lifted two corners such that the slope was around 1ft over 10ft average then tipped one of those corners up a little higher than the other.
I'm afraid to dive into a pond just yet and it would have to be very small.
I'm actively working on building up the lowest point to at least slow the water down and hold onto more of the water. My plan is a little hugelkultur bed with a bunch of deadfall and 2 cu yd topsoil.
Highly unlikely. But think different 🙄
It's a feature not a bug. 😉
