About routers

Many times we emphasize the need to use operating systems and applications that respect our privacy, but we forget the most important thing, our home router.

The routers of the operators have announced backdoors, since the operator can access whenever he wants, no matter if you change the password, there are service users that can be used to reset it or anything else, and many times these service users are leaked on hacking websites and the operators do nothing to remedy it. Plus a lot of vulnerabilities, many of them exploited by crackers and intelligence services, which are also not patched.

There is no interest in remedying these problems, why? Because it is better to have the digital door of your home wide open, you know, if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about, you do not have to worry about criminals either...

To mitigate this, we have to stop using the carriers' router, not even using it in bridge mode. We have to get a router that supports open source firmware like OpenWRT, DD-WRT or Tomato.

It is a pain in the ass many times, because you will have to buy a router with an ONT that is compatible with your operator or if you want to be more versatile play with an external ONT, but you have no choice.

As an example a few years ago, I did not have fiber in my house (I am very Jewish) so I bought a directional antenna and started hacking my neighbors wifis, I hacked more than 50 wifis in just a few hours and a few more for fun, I was like that for years, I also performed maintenance on their routers, until I finally decided to hire a fiber service, because some bastard neighbor turned off my router on weekends.

So please, do not use the routers of the operators, they are a sieve.

I have an old router stuck with an old OpenWRT OS but as it tooks me ages to make it works and next major update need factory reset, I'm too afraid to touch anything and let it running flowlessly for years.

Should be open hardware Linux running laptop only.

Talking about it, has anyone news about https://www.satoshi-island.com/ ?

I lost track after the NFT land "sale" which was looking scammy with almost hidden fact that you get only co-property of each land plot.

We could dressup as Minions.

Paris has much more growth potential thus, looking at the map a seagull could invade it by landing on the first tree it see.

Wow, I did't see such low premium since the early days of Peach. Is it real?

Looking for 2040: 1BTC buy you a private Island?

You have to pay 13$/month for the badge?!

I will ask AI to make me a badge for free.

It was not that long, it's just Alby was spamming popup to confirm, at some point I clicked accept all but invoice was closed after my wallet confirmed paid (by my mistake? Maybe) then I opened a new one and paid again.

Exiting news! 🔥

Cashu-Address.com has transitioned to a new domain: npub.cash!

Finally, the protocols reference implementation has its own name, and a way cooler domain as well (thanks nostr:npub12rv5lskctqxxs2c8rf2zlzc7xx3qpvzs3w4etgemauy9thegr43sf485vg 💜 )

Why npub.cash? Because it is a nostr-native, Cashu powered, Lightning Address for everyone! 💜 ⚡

What's changing? Nothing much, but the name. Rest assured, your existing cashu-address.com addresses remain fully operational and are now synonymous with npub.cash. Furthermore, any aliases purchased are valid across both domains.

Please leave your thoughts and feedback. Cashu-Address and npub.cash are still in development and your feedback is not only appreciated, but needed 💜

Nice! Thus I kind of timed out the claiming of username and had to pay twice to get mine. Not sure if you can see it.

eluc@npub.cash

All I see are two amazing Swiss #rollercoaster from B&M at Port Aventura Spain.

WTF is Coracle?

nostr:npub1xh38u56xajx908scstgqc98k5nx9faaqys7mfmfwdta3ttk0hy9q82luv2 Nice article about #Nextcloud. It's really the Open source killer app that could allow most daily computer use to get freed up from big corporations. Replacing the most used Google apps and Microsoft Office online ones. I have been running since it forked from OwnCloud or shortly after, first manually installed on a Synology NAS. In the beggining it was very challenging, one of, if not the most challenging self-hosted app I had used. The pace of major version update (about twice per year) is fast and I was often left behind with an old version not supported. Manual updates was a nightmare and I end up writting my own tutorial for the next update to come.

Now with my NAS turning 10 (these kids grow up fast), I decided to take it seriously to the next level. Now running Nextcloud on a TrueNAS self build machine with SSD on RAID and automated backup to my old NAS (soon to be) set externally. It's day and night how fast it runs now, I can clearly use Nextcloud at full potential and it feels as responsive as big tech products.

Bonus, now it's running in Kubernetes (like Docker for short) so it's super easy to update, one click never failed so far but it's been less than a year, I need to test it with time.

Good luck with your self-hosted journey.

Amazing, I would have think individual would be much less at this point. This will be a fight to keep it this way, but it's also the sign that we have a chance to make thinks better. Don't be tempted by governement and corporte temptation, keep you sats only for the most important things that will improve your life and/or improve the life of other individuals, not make governement, corporation and the top 0.01% richer even richer and more powerful.

People are so desparate that they party for a single digit green candle. Where are the +15%, +20%, +30% we were used to?

I was thinking to do the same with an old tablet but I end up with the actual Blockclock. Still I was hoping for a little more from Blockclock like, you know, that it's switching immediatly at each block to the block height view for a minute before cycling again to the other values.

Having the timechain calendar page on a screen always on would be amazing, thus not really economical in terms of watts I guess.

Waiting for stalkstr to follow you.

Mastering Bitcoin is straight open source, don't even need to pirate anything and it's much more adcanced than the Bitcoin Standard.

People with strong(er) cusrrencies will take longer to understand and they will be last moving to Bitcoin just to relalize their local currency worth shit as well and they are now poorer than all these people who moved before them.

Yes I do recommand it as a first non-custodial Lightning wallet, except for merchants I recommand Breez for the better PoS intergration with NFC boltcard support.

Then for more advanced who want to experience both on-chain and Lightning, Zeus with integrated LND node is quite the ultimate tool. If their PoS improve to Breez level and they do splicing (do they already?) I would maybe recomand it over both Phoenix and Breez.

Welcome, I hope you paid with #Bitcoin

It's not the perfect solution regarding privacy and control but it's by far one of the best solution for emails (which is a nightmare to selfhost now).

🔥

Will be fun until next year when it will be climbing all the position up to the second place within a a few hundred thousand blocks or less.

Beating gold my take another halving thus.

Nice. Also always nice to see again resonnable fees and purging below 10 sats/vB again.

Amathyst is amazing and most of my Nostr usage so far but we need also fully intercompatible webapp, possibly Linux app and for these rich naive wallet gardened hippies, iOS app.

Sure, nobody talk about it anymore. It's obvious that we will count in satoshis eventually, now we must agree on the notation and symbol, that's all but fsr from easy.
