The Philistines in the Bible banned swords and spears in Israel, forcing them to go to Philistine blacksmiths to get farming implements sharpened. On July 24, 1722, "The wearing of broadswords prohibited in Edinburgh." (gutenberg.org/ebooks/44028) This happened between the 2nd and 3rd Jacobite risings. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_in_Great_Britain)
nostr:npub1fgqm5kz0vwp8xq8l7wmux0a4lrzalhwmfxj624s6ss6dyt8k0y2szqatcp the nation-state is centered around freedom of association and limited interaction with others who you don’t know. There’s a tribal instinct in humans that should not be ignored, but there’s also a sense that killing others who are not the same as your tribe is wrong. Indeed there are several stories in the Old Testament where God calls on prophets to doomed cities to warn them. They read like “God’s a jerk for destroying them” but I’m realizing that they did it to themselves.

& I think this is along the lines of what you're saying.
Amos 3:3, 6-7 (ESV)
“Do two walk together,
unless they have agreed to meet?
...
Is a trumpet blown in a city,
and the people are not afraid?
Does disaster come to a city,
unless the Lord has done it?
“For the Lord God does nothing
without revealing his secret
to his servants the prophets...."

nostr:npub1me36rv7zjj5zt6rcwe5ktsfx60es5s4wj55gqv22lhujnqas5mfsnw765c some of the Canadians I've worked with are strong up-talkers.
nostr:npub1me36rv7zjj5zt6rcwe5ktsfx60es5s4wj55gqv22lhujnqas5mfsnw765c is he an up-talker, too? Is he Canadian?
nostr:npub1fgqm5kz0vwp8xq8l7wmux0a4lrzalhwmfxj624s6ss6dyt8k0y2szqatcp Again, by "we" do you mean governements/law, society at large, or individuals?
Can you (I mean you personally) exchange goods and services with people who don't share your beliefs? Assuming they've proven to act in good faith and for mutual benefit. Does their belief system enter into your decision?
And should individuals have the right to associate with whomever they wish for whatever reason they wish?
nostr:npub1xjeknzjsdcqg40lnz47cm3qmppf33kq62jyqh4pjptupfqj3zf5qlc85rf "Everyone" should have nations and honor the humanity of others. "Those who know the Truth" shouldn't validate lies.
Can I do business with people who don't share my beliefs? Yeah. Does their belief system enter into that decision? Also yes. I left a job over that, even though I'm sure they thought they were acting for mutual benefit.
I'm not sure what association has to do with it (is this about "bloodlines"?). If that association is lawful (moral), then it should be legal.
nostr:npub1xjeknzjsdcqg40lnz47cm3qmppf33kq62jyqh4pjptupfqj3zf5qlc85rf the fact that those principles overlap bears witness to them being true.
I'm not arguing that we shouldn't have nations - we should. (And they should probably be smaller.)
We should also honor the humanity of others because in it we honor the image of God that they bear.
However, we shouldn't pretend that all belief systems are equal. They're not.
