Personal musings from a gardener. Bringing a slice of nature to nostr. Preston Bitcoin Meetup Organiser.

New reading material

One of the few Saturdays of the year I have worked but at least it was for one of my favourite jobs I get to do.

Designing and planting a border (~14sq.m.)

The customer wanted all light pinks/whites so that's what she got 😊

GM. Hope you all have a blessed weekend. Get after it!

Something that irks me is when a product of nature is labeled antibacterial. Honey, coconut oil, even wood.

Nature is not against itself, it comes from bacteria. It cannot be anti bacteria.

Unfortunately most still wrongly believe that bacteria are the source of illness & disease instead of their actual role, which is to help clean up the body. Hence the quest to label everything antibacterial.

Still a long way to go to educate the masses.

I wonder if the people who get their backs up about raw milk being bad for you realise there are loads of people like me who drink litres of the stuff each week with only positive benefits.

This stuff is a cheatcode for feeling great.

Almost like our ancestors knew a thing or too..

Tomatoes coming along.

Keeping the plants on the drier side and taking off lower leaves to help fruits ripen.

Also a great time to keep sowing new seedlings, especially salads/spinach as the pests will be dying down by the time they mature.

Got a lot of time for community groups that plant up open spaces. Makes such a difference to the area.

When I retire I'm going to be all over this, making any and every spot I can as vibrate and beautiful as possible.

By not putting effort into their garden most people miss what nature has to offer.

We've never seen woodpeckers in our garden until this year & the beauty of it is that it will only get better as it matures.

Whilst everyone else is paving over and choosing so called 'low maintenance' hard landscaping, we will continue to improve our borders to welcome birds, bees and everything in between.

CHOOSE (WILD)LIFE!

Happy to say my streak of never voting in an election continues πŸŽ‰

Always funny watching people whip up into a frenzy over a system that views them as bottom of the barrel scum.

I highly recommend the Lake District Meetups. Camping out with Bitcoiners and shooting the shit on a long hike ✌️

Vampires beware!

Do you ever get in a routine of doing a task a certain way and then your brain goes 'how about this way instead?'

And it works much better and you're both a genius & idiot all in one.

Happens all the time for me.

Being in shape is becoming more and more of a flex, especially when you go out and about and see most people have given up on themselves.

Astounds me how big some people are these days. I don't know how they manage it.

Paying for food in Bitcoin doesn't get old 😎

You hear a lot about companion planting and plants that supposedly like each other that grow well together.

While it's a nice rosy way of seeing things it's not true most of the time.

See these Basil plants, I have been watering only the Basil in the greenhouse yet they are the ones constantly needing more water.

The stronger plants, in this case the tomatoes, will always dominate the lesser ones.

Something I've learnt since working for myself is there's no such thing as a free lunch.

If you want an early finish on a Friday more often than not something will stop that from happening.

Highly recommend it if you want to build resilience and become philosophical πŸ˜…

I was never a slouch but work ethic just goes through the roof when it's your name against the workmanship.

I don't think I could go back to working for someone, but you just have to really take care of yourself physically and mentally and get your house in order.

Hard to tell from the picture but could be because they've been left in the ground too long.

thanks, then only get better! Miles clear of anything you can buy!

In what regard? How do I grow it or what do I cook with it?

I usually plant at start of November so I guess so? πŸ‘

This year's garlic harvest. Happy with that, no rust and pulled at a good time. Should see us through for another 9/10 months.

It's almost a cheatcode how easy it is to grow.

thanks for the offer, I don't have the capacity at the minute to organise anything like this. Was just putting something into the ether!

I do think it has promise though, when I went on the Lake District Bitcoin Walk there's so many crossovers for normies, especially women these days are on a massive health kick with running clubs etc booming. Definitely something that needs exploring.

Shower thought - how about instead of more conferences we have wellness retreats.

Great crossover with Bitcoin - Nutrition, exercise/yoga, low time preference activities instead of meeting with alcohol involved.

Would also be a better way of engaging normies than conferences.

The hitch as always is how do you involve Bitcoin without it being too shoehorned in and having eyes roll.

Determined to make the absolute most out of my garden this year. Like a dog with a bone πŸ’ͺ
