I actually use both. Can't live without Emacs org-mode but prefer vim to emacs-nox when e.g. editing a file via ssh.
Amethyst even works on my Note 10.1 (usable still with Lineage OS 18.1), which is a 2012 tablet!
The abstraction of all the low-level configuration in their idiomatic configuration files and languages is especially appealing to me. NixOS is also very stable and up to date. I used Debian before.
Sorry, had read gui (as in graphical user interface); emilk/egui looks very nice also.
