Sad. I guess there are other options now.
People often ask, why should you run your own private Nostr relay? It's simple. You run a private Nostr relay to backup your own data. This puts you in control of your own data. This prevents you from getting censored or rugged. If anything happens to the relays that you use, you can re-broadcast or transmit your data to other relays if so inclined.
Tools exist in various capacities to accomplish this, but I'll recommend 3 that I've used.
The shadowy super coder route:
https://github.com/cameri/nostream for command line ninjas.
The pleb route:
Umbrel and Start9 both have one-click relay options. Umbrel's is probably the best.
Great information. Thanks. I hope my pi4 can handle it!
I really wouldn't mess with any cold storage reseller. Too big a risk of tampering. I would only buy from the manufacturer. Coinkite is great.
Can someone help me out with alby? For the past few days I can no longer reliably zap or send sats to anyone. I use iris on the web. Once in a while it works, but very sporadically. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Wow! Thank you very much. Great thread. I can't get enough of these favorite song posts. I always find something new to me.
Another way to send sats on nostr:
I will check out NostrGram. Sounds like it makes sense, especially on mobile.
Thanks for the info. I guess I'll experiment. I have 14 relays now including paid wine with the filter.
thanks for the info. I'm spending most of my time on iris from home. Mobile I use amethyst on my android. So, it only makes sense to cull relays on mobile to save battery power?
Optimal number of relays? Now that I have two paid, does it make sense to cull my list of free relays?
I'm really old and I had to read every one of those books for school at some point.
This was required reading for every schoolkid in th US in the 70s, 80s,90's
When the world is on a bitcoin standard it won't matter.
I use Stacker News wallet and sats I earn on that site, fountain, and bitcoin magazine. Modest kitty, but non kyc. Stacker News wallet works great on Iris.
