Inbox is the staging area. After you read it, archive it, unless you intend on checking it very soon.

Use automation rules based on the sender to automatically tag and move nonhuman emails out of your inbox.

FOSS software will survive regardless of funding because that's how it was born: passion projects.

It's either professional devs doing it outside work so they can learn new skills and improve their portfolio, or it's sutdents learning.

There's nothing altruistic or communist about it. Both reasons are purely self-motivated.

In pratice they are heavy politicized but, under free market capitalism, I believe it should be encouraged for some type of workers to freely associate so that they can better negotiate their pay.
