On this Easter weekend, let us remember other people who sacrificed their lives for the betterment of humanity. Rosa dared to speak up for the working classes and oppressed people against the established oligarchy. She is a model for anyone that recognizes their position as a wage slave or debt peon. She was killed for the things that she said, and for the equality that she represented.

Growth, success, development… all exist only within the eyes of the beholder. Contentment, security, and satisfaction with life exist in quantum states like every quality within the universe. Every point in space, every field, represents a different level of satisfaction. My perception of the world, and your perception of the world, both entitled by luck, race, birth, genetics, and location, provide us little understanding of the needs and perceptions of others. We are neutered by quantum isolation.

The tradition of eating and drinking at fancy restaurants, laughing and telling stories, and generally engaging in pecuniary emulation, while homeless people sit outside on the street begging for quarters, is a level of antisocial behavior that I cannot imagine in any other species.

Bitcoin is amplified in value by use-cases, but it embodies an underlying amount of energy that gives it a form of exchange value only duplicated by commodities. Corn, gold, and gas have human labor and energy requirements that cannot be falsified and that are consistent around the world. #Bitcoin takes the same amount of energy to produce anywhere.

Money in the service of preserving one’s labor value over time is a very different end than money in the service of confiscating other peoples’ labor value.

#Bitcoin vs. currencies available at different cost to different social classes.

Yes. But in most cases “National Security” is a euphemism for “maintenance of power by the established elite.”

Bah. The whole point of gold-backed currency is to release holders from the burden of carrying around gold.

Bitcoin releases us from that burden, without having to carry around an IOU and without having to trust a central authority.

The other problem with the Constitution is that it’s purpose is to protect the opulent minority from the majority.

This Easter, let us celebrate Jesus’s desire for humanity to overcome the destabilizing effects of unjust credit, usury, and debt peonage.

Jesus came to forgive debts, not sins. The original meaning of the Lord’s Prayer in Hebrew and Greek was “Forgive us our debts.” When he unrolled the scroll of Isaiah in the synagogue and declared that he “came to proclaim the year of the Lord,” he spoke of “deror” or debt cancellation. He advocated for the tradition of the Jubilee year which was brought from Babylonia into Judaism, and which served to restore balance and relieve debt slaves and their families from indefinite servitude to lending classes.

"The greatest threat looming over our planet, the hegemonistic pretentions of the American Empire are placing at risk the very survival of the human species. We continue to warn you about this danger, and we appeal to the people of the United States and the world to halt this threat, which is like a sword hanging over our heads."

–Hugo Chavez

There’s a lot to be said for that. In small populations with repeated interactions among the inhabitants, cooperative behavior is more likely. How many of our social problems only developed once we hit a critical population?

A deflationary currency encouraging a steady state economy such as described by Brian Czech, overcoming the myth that perpetual growth is the key to improving quality of life for humanity, and advocating for a more sustainable use of resources, will help us back toward a a more cooperative social contract.

In “Manufacturing Consent,” Noam Chomsky talks about the design of acceptable thought. People love to debate their opinions. As long as they debate things that are irrelevant to existing power structures, the status who will continue.

It has been a long time since we have had great social movements. Women’s rights, minority rights, workers’ rights, anti-war… By design, we now debate vocabulary and feelings. This is an injustice to mankind to matter what your feelings are about real issues.
